I've backed over 1900 projects on Kickstarter, over 25% of them so far have partnered with Backerkit.
For major projects, having PayPal enabled is very helpful so the payment can be split up and I can make a larger pledge. This is especially true when money is tight at the time a project funds, but before backerkit processes add-ons. I often pledge a dollar (or what I can) and then significantly more during the backerkit.
