I never imagined becoming a children’s author. It all began with my son, Fox, and the incredible friendship he formed with his chicken, Polly. What started as a special part of our family’s story became something we wanted to share with the world.

As a first-time author, this journey has been one of patience, learning, and a whole lot of heart. It took several years to shape A Place to Belong: The Story of Fox & Polly into what it is today and to find the right illustrator who could bring their friendship to life through Fox’s eyes.

I live in rural Manitoba with my husband, our three children, and, of course, plenty of animals. My work with children and my studies in social work have strengthened my belief in the importance of kindness, acceptance, and creating spaces where every child feels seen, valued, and understood.

A Place to Belong is my first children’s book, but I hope it is only the beginning. My goal is to continue creating meaningful stories inspired by real experiences, the people I love, and the lessons our children can teach us.

Most of all, I hope Fox and Polly’s story reminds children and the grown-ups reading beside them that everyone deserves a place to belong.
