In romance, we don't like it with somebody messes with the HEA.
I debated on the H for a little bit...thought maybe I'd do historical. I even thought about doing hockey.
But then it dawned on me...romance is all about the HEA. In a pin campaign celebrating the romance genre, how can I not include something that talks about the HEA?
Book genres are defined by certain characteristics.
Mysteries will have mystery.
Historicals will be set in the past.
Murder mysteries will involve murder.
And romance will involve a couple (**or throuple/more) falling in love and finding their HEA or HFN (Happy for Now). Romance lovers want that satisfying conclusion at the end, knowing the people they've come to know will find their person(s) and make it work. Things don't always work out in life and there aren't always HEAs.
But we can find them in some places - and a romance in one of those.
Every once in a while there's a kerfuffle in the online spaces known as romancelandia where a writer-typically newish to the romance genre-will announce they're putting a 'new' spin on the romance genre. This 'new spin' is a 'love story' without the HEA.
Romancelandia has spoken out, loudly, against this every time somebody tries to reinvent our quite lovely wheel.
A few years ago, during one of these blow-ups on twitter, one of these writers was insisting nobody could tell her what to write.
That's true. But likewise, she can't insist her 'love story without the HEA' is still a romance and think romance lovers are gonna be cool with it. Which is pretty much what I said. And I added something along the lines of "This is romance. It's HEA or GTFO."
When I was going through my ideas for the various letters, I kept going back to H and realized why. Because...well, we're talking romance.
It stops with the HEA.
And that's how I wanted to end this first pin campaign...with the HEA.
That being said, I'm going to have all pin designs, A-H, available for backers. G is mocked up and I'm discussing it with the artist, so you'll see the final in an update before I send out surveys.
We've unlocked all but 3 pins in the first six hours - which is incredible! - and opens up the possibility that we might be able to add some more cool options.
So here are the possibilities we've thought of so far - help us decide which way to go once we get there!
Ok! Smoke test is out. A smoke test is a survey sent to a few random people so that we can make sure everything works right. So far, It's looking like it's good! So as long as there are no issues, the survey goes out tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.
1. There is a limited edition 50 jellybean pin in the survey add-ons. You can only get it in the survey. It's limited to 1 per backer, first come first served.
2. Fix your payment. You won't get a survey until your payment is fixed, or it's been 2 weeks. So If you'd like the grab the LE bean, you'll need to fix your payment before you'll get a survey.
3. Once you receive your survey, just fill it out! Payments won't be charged until surveys close March 12th. You can make changes to your survey until it closes and charges on march 12th!
4. After you choose your rewards, you will go to the add-on section. you can grab one if the LE worm beans there!
5. You can get a coupon code for $3 credit on an item in my palmstreet store. The coupon code is in your survey!! But It expires on March 13. So If you're late on your survey... it will expire. So make sure to do the survey soon.

Hi everyone! It has been a week since the crowdfunding phase closed and I do have some updates! I am wrapping up surveys with the Backerkit team so those will be sent out soon! You will be able to make selections for all of your orders and add-on anything new if you decide you would like to. Shipping info/payments will be taken care of through surveys as well! If you need shipments merged or know me personally and want items physically dropped off, please reach out about that and I will work with you.
Production on plushies and pins will begin after I have specifics from you all in the surveys so I have an idea of how many I am ordering of each design and if we unlock any new designs in the surveys :) My manufacturers are celebrating CNY and will be back to work next week which works out well with surveys going out soon and being wrapped up in the upcoming week!
My next update will have photos of any merch I have made in house/ freebies that have arrived at my place such as bookmarks and stickers! In the upcoming month I will be posting any updates regarding production and will be working on another smaller campaign featuring pins that are toy shop and you know it, vampire themed :P
