Project Update: Preview: The First Treasures Have Been Forged

Greetings, Adventurers!

We wanted to bring you another update from the Argo and share some exciting progress on Jason and the Argonauts. We are happy to report that everything is moving along very nicely, and the voyage has reached another important milestone!

Production Files Are With the Manufacturer!
We have now provided all of the production files to our manufacturer and have approved the e-proofs needed to begin producing our sample copies.

This includes not only Jason and the Argonauts, but also the Add-On Packs and custom dice trays.

Our manufacturer will be bringing these samples to Essen, where we will have the opportunity to inspect them in person and show a handful of copies to Adventurers, industry friends, and our international localization partners.

Once these samples arrive in our hands, we will carefully inspect every aspect of the production. We'll be checking the cards, tokens, packaging, colors, printing, foil, and all of the little details that make up the final game.
If we discover anything that isn't quite right, we'll make the necessary corrections and have new samples produced for another round of inspection.

If everything looks as it should, we will give the final approval and move forward into mass production!
Once we reach that milestone, we'll have a much clearer production timeline to share with all of you.

Add-On Samples Have Arrived!
There are quite a few treasures being forged for this voyage, and not everything is being produced by the same manufacturer.
Items such as the Enamel Pins, Deluxe Dice, Solo Gaming Patch, and Custom Leather Dice Storage Container are being produced by a separate manufacturing partner.

We recently received samples of these items, and I have to say… They look absolutely fantastic.

We are incredibly happy with how these items have turned out, and we're excited for you to eventually get your hands on them. We produced limited quantities of many of these add-ons, and they are still available through the Pledge Manager for anyone who would like to add them to their order.

Unfortanlty some treasures have already disappeared, including the Spartoi Enamel Pin, so if there is an add-on you've been considering, now is a good time to check your order before they are gone.
Click here to access your pledge manager: https://jason-and-the-argonauts.backerkit.com/

The Voyage Continues
Everything is moving along as planned, and we are extremely happy with the progress being made.
The next major milestone will be receiving the Jason and the Argonauts samples and putting them through a thorough inspection. This is an important step before we give the final approval for mass production, and we want to make sure we get everything right before the game begins its journey into the factory.
We'll provide another update once those samples arrive and we've had the opportunity to inspect them.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments below. We'll do our best to answer them!

Until next time, Adventurers…
May the winds remain favorable, and thank you once again for helping bring this legend to life. âš“

Project Update: How Foes ☠ work (in Deeds Drawn)

Hey all, I'm cruising right along with the card designs, and settled on something I really dig. At the same time, I wanted to talk a bit about how cards work in the game.

Cards in General
In Deeds Drawn, most of the moment-to-moment follows this pattern:
  1. Read the card's prompt.
  2. Choose your approach to solving it (using character cards.)
  3. Roll for the outcome.
Pretty straight forward, if you're comfortable with some interpretation.

Foes
Below, is an example of a "Foe" card, front and back. As you pass (or fail to pass) challenges, you'll rotate the card a certain number of times. If you would ever repeat a challenge you've already passed, you instead flip the card over. At this point, the mob becomes desperate, and has a new set of challenges. Beat them here, and you defeat them. Defeat them, and you get their reward.
An example Foe, front and back.

In the mix, are "Stat" icons (left of the prompt,) and "Risk" icons (right of prompt.) Stats help determine the DC of a check (which we'll talk about in a later post,) and the Risk determines the effects if you fail a check. Fail softly, and you eat the first risk. Fail hard, and you suffer them both.

Risks can cause you to exhaust your cards, making them temporarily unusable... or they might disarm your weapon, poison you to prevent healing during downtime, flee from the fight entirely, and so on. The goal is to reflect change the entire feeling of a fight... not just beat them down until their health is zeroed.

We'll talk more about stats and rewards later.

Let me know what you think of the current design. Thanks, folks!

Project Update: Prints are here!

Hello forest friends,

Friend, Illustrator and Printmaker, Morgan Hyatt has finished printing hand-carved linocut prints featuring their cover and center spread art. The prints came out so beautifully, human-imagined and human-made. Check them out:

Project Update: Please Complete your Survey

 Hello everyone,

This is a quick reminder to please complete your surveys. Currently, 15% of surveys remain outstanding, and we need an accurate count to finalize our orders for bag color material, Heavy Play items, Envy Born Games, and 9th Level RPGs.

I will share a detailed update in the next few days. It has been a challenging process with a lot of learning along the way. I am expecting another sample on September 16th and will provide a full report once I receive it.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience.

Project Update: Order locks incoming 🔒 (Deeds Drawn)

Hey there, folks. Quick update.

I'm locking down the orders for Deeds Drawn here soon, and shipping will be charged some time next week. If you need to update your address, please do that now.

Some of you will notice a complimentary credit on your order that effectively zeroes out the shipping cost. This is because you ordered Gossamer Frontier from outside the Deeds Drawn campaign, and wanted to bundle those orders together. In other words, those folks will only pay shipping when the Gossamer Frontier campaign ships, instead of getting hit with shipping costs twice.

If you have any questions, or need something adjusted, just hit me up and we'll get it sorted.
Thanks, folks!

It looks like the last update was a couple of months ago about the a miscolor of the liner. I'm glad it is getting resolved but is there any new production updates?

Project Update: Portent - September update

Hi everyone,

Bringing you the Portent September update with lots of news to share!

Playtest progress

Yesterday evening, the Portent playtest officially kicked off. Eleven playtesters have been given access to the v0.1 playtest game and the feedback form, and some have already started playing <3 Although I've worked really hard on Portent (and still am), it is always a bit of a nerve-wracking moment when the game is first given to people and opened up to feedback, so seeing playtesters take pictures of their journals and having fun with the game made me so happy!

The playtest will run until the middle of October, at which point I hope to have close to all the artwork done. Then, it's onto processing all feedback and sending it off to an editor. I've gone a bit off my ideal schedule but we're still going strong for fulfilment in the first quarter of 2027 <3

Artwork

The kami of Portent have slowly been making their way into a visual form. Here are some examples of what I have so far (these are flat colors and not the final artwork):

Artwork of The High Priestess Jokyoko, showing a kami dressed in blue robes and a veil.

Artwork of the kami Shinigami, representing the tarot card The Death; a figure dressed mostly in white with a white crow, atop some stirring winds.

Drawing all the kami is a lot of fun!

Enamel pins

In the last update, I showed you some pictures of enamel pins in the process of being made, which my manufacturing partner sent me. I can now happily say that all pins have arrived!

Photo collage of three enamel pins available for Portent: Ocular Halo, Temperance, and The Chariot

Photo collage of three enamel pins available for Portent: The Death, The Tower, and Sakura Shrine

Photo of the pin freebie: the torii in an open book

My personal favorites are definitely The Chariot (Sensha) and The Tower (Toh), but honestly, I'm very happy with all of them. The Chariot and Sakura Shrine both have gradient pearl effect, a new technique for me, and they came out so well!

All pins are still available in the survey.

In the upcoming few weeks, I'll be attending Connichi in Germany, and then Main Quest Con and Ibaricon in the Netherlands. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, definitely come and say hi <3

Until the next update!

Cheers,
 Natasja

Project Update: Timeline update for Deeds Drawn

Production Started... mostly.
Hey there, folks. Quick update on Deeds Drawn for you.

It took a bit more back and forth than I was expecting with the manufacturing company, but I've just been notified that a sample deck is in production now -- after that, they can flip the switch and get the rest printed out. It'll take 10 business days to finish the sample, by their estimates, and then they'll ship it my way for approval.

That does, however, firmly place the timeline for shipping in October. Sorry for the delay, folks.

Juggling Bundled Shipping Costs (re: Gossamer Frontier)
Turns out there are at least 142 of you who want to bundle Deeds Drawn with Gossamer Frontier and ship them both out at the same time, which is great. There also isn't a super great way of doing this on the system backend, so here's what I've come up with:

1. If you purchased Gossamer through the Deeds Drawn campaign, no problem. You'll still get charged shipping through this campaign once I lock down orders (which will likely be early September.)

2. If you purchased Gossamer through the Gossamer Frontier campaign, I'm going to credit your Deeds Drawn account so that you aren't charged for shipping when I lock down Deeds Drawn. Instead, you'll just pay shipping through the Gossamer Frontier campaign once that's locked down, and I'll suck it up on any extra shipping costs related to the card decks themselves.

This will require me to go through and cross-reference all the pledges by hand, and thus be more error prone. So if I make a mistake, just let me know and I'll get it sorted.

Hope that's not too confusing.

Work on Gossamer
Now that Deeds Drawn is off to the side, Gossamer Frontier is chugging right along again. I did recently make some fundamental gameflow changes that I'm filing the rough edges off of now, but I do really like the updated direction, and don't think it'll take much longer to get it across the finish line. That said, production will likely kick off in September, which also puts it in the same boat as Deeds Drawn with delivery likely occurring here in October.

That's all for now. Thanks, folks!

Project Update: Books and add-ons have been ordered! Check out these prototypes

Hey all,

Final charges have been made for shipping and add-ons. The final orders for publication of the add-ons and books have been made. Here's a sneak peek of prototypes for the enamel pin and Spirit Cards (you'll notice the design has been changed; the prior designs left the spirit illustrations too small and I like these better anyway).

The project is so close to completion! We can't wait to get the game in your hands and hear about your adventures.
