In our last update we let you all know that we had run into a snag with the layout and design for Reforged. Our layout person needed to back out and so we took some time to figure out a backup plan. After some discussion we have decided we’ll be doing the layout in house. Charlotte, who has done all of the art for Coven & Crucible, has gotten to work on Reforged. She is using the style guide the previous layout person created for us and it’s coming together nicely. Check out a sample spread below:
So what does this mean for our timeline? We’ve pushed out the fulfillment date for physical rewards from October to November. The PDFs will be available for download earlier: as soon as files are sent to the printers we’ll be fulfilling PDFs for backers.
We are doing this for two reasons: 1) We want to get copies of the game into people’s hands as soon as possible and 2) we want people to have access to the game before we launch our Discord game.
Speaking of which: we’re launching a text game of Coven & Crucible on our Discord server. This is a project we've been working on in the background for several months.
In brief this will be a paid game, so you need to be a Champion level supporter here on our Patreon to be part of it. We'll be running two games a month in this new, open world, game. Games will be held on the first Wednesday and third Saturday of each month. Game time will be from 6 - 10 CST.
This game will be a Player versus Environment game. There's no expectation or plan for Player versus Player plots or play. We want people to have a fun time with roleplay in the world, not worried that another player is going to come gunning for them.
And what do we mean by "open world" in this context? We mean two things. First off, while the game will have ties to Chicago, that is not the only location that play can take place. Secondly, it means this is an Everyone in the Pool or Mixed Nuts situation where everything from Reforged, Unbound and Beyond will be in play. So, supernatural being templates will be available for play.
We’re writing to update you on a setback we’ve recently experienced. The person who was working on the layout of the books has had to step down due to health issues. This means we have to come up with a backup plan for layout and design of the files. Rest assured, we’re working on those backup plans, but this most likely means we’ll have to push back when the files go to the printer.
The good news is that we don’t anticipate that this is going to cause a huge delay. Most likely just a couple of months. We’ll have a better idea in the next week or so as we find an alternative. We’ll keep you up-to-date on how things are going and when we have figured out how we’re going to be moving forward.
In the meantime we have a couple of other announcements.
First off, in late October we’ll be launching an online, text-based game of Coven & Crucible. The game will have two sessions a month, each lasting four hours, with soft RP allowed in between games. This will be hosted on our Discord server. Players will get a downtime channel for planning their various machinations. This is intended as an RP heavy, non-PVP game.
Secondly, we had so much success at GenCon running games of Coven & Crucible, we’ll be back next year not only with tables but also with a LARP. We’ll be releasing details as we get them. The best way is to join our Discord server to stay up to date on the news.
That’s all for now. We’ll be back with another update in the next week or so. Until then, thank you for your support!
It's been a hot minute since we reached out. Things have been super busy over here at 13th Moon Games culminating in us heading to Gen Con. We ran seven tables of Coven & Crucible there, and probably should have run more as all the tables sold out!
In Reforged news we'll be locking in addresses in a week. So if you haven't already filled out your surveys, now's the time to do it.
We'll have more information in the coming weeks. Thanks so much for your support and we'll see you in the next update.
Hello! It's been a hot minute since we updated. Since the last time we sent out news we've been getting things ready behind the scenes and we attended Fan Fusion in Phoenix where we ran games of Coven & Crucible.
Stephan waiting for players at Fan Fusion.
If you haven't already done so, make sure you fill out your backer survey. We're on track to get rewards out to people at the end of October, and we'll need your information by then to make sure you get your copies of the game and any other goodies you've added to your pledge.
If you didn't have a chance to back us when the campaign was live, the Preorder Page is now live. You can order copies of the game and other add-ons at the link.
On a completely different, but related topic, we want to mention another project that has just launched: Deck of Fates.
Deck of Fates.
This is a deck of cards that acts as an oracle or Tarot deck for your game. It is system agnostic and beautiful. We had a chance to see the deck in person at Fan Fusion. The deck is an
Amoirais project and many of the people behind it helped us with our campaign. So, if you are into witchy stuff like Coven & Crucible (and you wouldn't be getting this update if you weren't) check out the Deck of Fates.
We'll have another update at the end of July, live from GenCon! If you are going to be in attendence, come find us. We'll be running games of Coven & Crucible all weekend long.
Backer surveys, late pledges and Fan Fusion Phoenix
Hello everyone!
It's been a hot minute since we reached out and that's because we've been busy behind the scenes doing all the backend work that comes with a successful campaign. Now that things are moving along, it's time for an update.
First off, backer surveys were sent out a few days ago. Please check your spam folder if you haven't received it yet. This will take your shipping information and give you the opportunity to purchase any other add-ons if you wish.
Finally, we're heading to Fan Fusion Phoenix this weekend. We'll be running a few tables of Coven & Crucible, so if you are going to be at the convention come join us. You can find sign up information at phoenixfanfusion.projecthedron.com/. Just search for "Coven and Crucible" and it will bring up the tables. Even if you don't join us, and say hi if you see us. roach is the one with the pink hair and Stephan is the one without any hair.
We'll send another update in July letting you know where we are at. Thank you again for all your support!
We did it! We funded Coven & Crucible: Reforged! Thanks to your support the second edition of the game is going to be a reality.
We took a few days off after the campaign ended last Thursday to rest and recover after a long 30 days of running the campaign. Now that we've had the weekend to gather our wits about us, we can come back and do a celebratory dance.
So, what can you expect from us now? Firstly, we'll be getting the pledge manager set up. We're finalizing the layout and design for Reforged. We'll be logging updates every month, or as new information comes out to keep you in the loop.
It's going to be a busy few months as we get this project out to you all. We're excited to have you with us on the journey.
