Twisting Unseen is a module of teleportation gates and the cursed beings living behind them, for the Mothership Sci-Fi Horror RPG. In this second installment of Sleeper Crew Adventures, the crew awaken within the Kagami Arcology: a decrepit superstructure where a treasonous military faction has reactivated ruinous portal tech. Inspired by BLAME!, Pandorum (2009), Half-Life, and yokai folklore, the crew must learn the lost colony's secrets or be damned never to see their own spacetime again.

This 36pg zine comes packed with four factions fighting over control of their twisted underground bunker colony, fully illustrated maps from esteemed OSR illustrator Ripley Matthews, twelve main areas and five tables containing a total of fifty displaced substrata to connect between these zones, 1d100 Bygone Relics of esoteric origin, and a 1d100 Twisting Event table filled with more relics, omens, hazards, NPCs, and Incursors.

Zine interior mockup. Work in Progress.

In Twisting Unseen, the players build the map, using cut-out map pieces while their PCs use the Gate Diagnostics Tablet, and configuring the facility's sectors and connecting tiles as they explore. Traveling their newly built corridors exposes them to devious Incursors, biomechanical beings from other realities, while the Kagami sectors remain under the influence of the colony's descendant factions, who have forgotten skies exist.

Can the crew reach the Prime Gate before the continuum twists beyond their reality?

Edit

Twisting Unseen is the second installment in the Sleeper Crew Adventures series, where the Sleeper Crew awaken from Extended Duration Cryosleep into exceptionally dire circumstances. In this adventure, space-time distortions locked Kagami Arcology underground, and the crew need to discover the portal control center to escape.

The core mechanic of Twisting Unseen has the players building the dungeon. Their characters use a Gate Diagnostics Tool to choose their destination and map a path through the Kagami Arcology. They place the connecting Map Tiles before traversing their newly built space. The Map Tiles double as a timer, with transdimensional consequences if the crew exhaust their supply.

23x17in map grid. Scissors and glue stick not included

To Build the Superstructure, every zine comes with three US Digest-sized inserts of the map pieces illustrated by Ripley Matthews, and a 23 x 17 inch fold-out map. Cut out the map pieces to configure and construct a path through this sunken bunker. With each Map Tile explored, the Warden rolls a unique location, and checks for Events. The basic zine package includes:

  • The 36pg zine, Twisting Unseen
    • Fully illustrated characters & creatures by Paul Enami a.k.a. Meatborg
    • 1d100 Bygone Relics
    • 1d100 Untwisting Event table

Shipping and Fulfillment for Twisting Unseen will be handled by RV Games.

RV Games is a Queer publisher of auteur tabletop games. They have published, fulfilled, or distributed several crowdfunded projects including Not Enough Scoundrels, Graveyard of the Gods, and Ronin.

Shipping

Worldwide shipping will be organized by RV Games via ShipBob.

Shipping is $13 flat rate for all pledge levels. All shipping to outside the U.S. is delivery duty paid.

Backers of Not Enough Scoundrels receive a $3 credit for use towards shipping, tax, and/or post-campaign add-ons.

Sales tax for California, Canada, and Australia and VAT for UK and EU are charged by pledge level and for each add-on using the amounts and rates listed in the linked spreadsheet. This can include VAT for digital items in the European Union depending on your country’s regulations and VAT rates.

Outside of US, CA, UK, EU, and Australia, everyone is also is charged a flat 25% fee per pledge level or item to cover duties and/or taxes. Shipping, sales tax, and VAT will be charged later via Pledge Manager. Add-ons will also be available then. A few heavier post campaign items add an extra shipping cost but most add-ons after the campaign can be added with no additional shipping fees.

Pledge Manager

RV Games will be using BackerKit as a pledge manager once the campaign is complete. We will be using a feature called Auto-lock and Charge that will lock your order and charge you for shipping and add-ons when you complete your survey. For this reason, you will end up receiving your survey a little later than you may be used to, surveys will go out once products have arrived at the warehouse.

Add-Ons

After the campaign, you will be able to purchase add-ons from RV Games back catalog, a selection of third party ttrpg zines and books, and a small selection of gaming accessories. Add-ons that contain more than just print material will need to pay VAT in the UK. Shipping is included in the price of the add-ons purchased through BackerKit except for heavier items.
Edit

Below, you’ll find the rough overview of the project timeline. The great luck with this campaign is that editing is already finished! This campaign funding is reimbursing those costs, layout, and production. Layout begin after we receive funding from BackerKit. Then it’s final proofreading and test prints. But knowing how volatile even a seemingly simple process can be, I’ve built in some serious padding.

March 2026: Collect funds, begin layout.
April 2026: Begin Layout.
May 2026: Finalize and check layout
June 2026: Proofreading
July 2026: Print checks
August 2026: Production (patches, pamphlets)
September 2026: Production (main zine)
October 2026: Shipping to Warehouse
November 2026: Kitting
December 2026: No-go postal delivery zone, :(
January 2027: Fulfillment Begins

Zine Month is a community-driven effort to make cool shit that's been going on for five years now. It's how I got my start making projects in the indie ttrpg space, and I wouldn't be here without shout-outs from fellow cool indie designers. Here are some Zine Month projects this year that I think are worth checking out.

  • A Familiar Tower: DirectSun put together a Puzzle Dungeon Crew following the itch game jam he hosted. In the follow-up to the acclaimed Aberrant Reflections, he's funding his new OSE puzzle dungeon, A Familiar Tower.
  • CAIN SUN: My homie Waco Matrixo is launching a new Mothership zine where you play parasitic worms controlling a human body in Cain Sun! You are the alien. You will not trust your friends. Mothership through and through.
  • RESERVOIR: Cameron Maas is stitching together their meat flesh body horror puzzle dungeon Reservoir which looks 110% my shit. I mean, "The Elemental Plane of Flesh," c'mon that's just too cool/gross.
  • Outcast Unseelie and the Ooze Between: And because the gunk is in the air, apparently, haha, Jesse Winter has arcane ooze figuring into the puzzles of their 30+ room dungeon, Outcast Unseelie and the Ooze Between.
  • Dead Internet Theory: In this three-mission CY_BORG zine, David H. K. Jackson teams up with Roque Romero to send yer cyberpunks through cadavercore dance floors, mutant-filled sewers, and high-end labs to unveil creepy cult activity.
