Project Update: Happy New Year! Production Status Update.

Beyond the City of Skull Adventure Path Impact

The entire adventure path is complete and its so good that parts of the hex crawl rules and the hazards are being incorporated into the main book for City of Skull. Patrick Clapp, who has been writing all of the MAZES adventures as the lead MAZES MONTHLY has really gone all out on this one. We got dragons, magic-resistant orcs, hidden societies, terrorist spell bombs, and esoteric theories of portal magic.  No matter what your group is into, there are multiple paths through the adventure cycle, all leading to one of four different, exciting, and cinematic adventures.

The rules for down time, hex crawling, and character selection are also so compelling that we are incorporating them into the standard options coming out of City of Skull. Heavily playtested and expanded - these options give you a codified way of playing West March style games with the Mazes rules - without having to fear power creep or "getting lost".

Production 

Our promised delivery of physical items is May 2025. Right now we are on schedule assuming the printing times are what we expect. We are printing everything in the United States except the screen and coins. 

  • City of Skull main book fully written, internal content pass, & going to editor by end of January.
  • Beyond City of Skull Adventure fully written, internal content pass, & going to editor by end of January. 
  • Maze Controller Screen completely written, laid out, & ordered 
  • Prison Tomb Solo adventure currently being written 
  • City of Skull coins design approved & ordered 
  • In-World Zine currently being written 
  • In-World Card Deck is designed, awaiting edit & layout
  • Soundtrack not started yet 
  • City of Skull for Roll20 not started yet

Project Update: Thankful for Mazes! Special Mega Sale all weekend!


City of Skull Adventure Path 

Over the last month or so, Mazes Architect Patrick Clapp has been running unsuspecting players through the gauntlet of his new maze! Here's some key things learned that will make it EVEN BETTER: 
  • D3 hazards > D2 hazards 
  • The Wealth Edge and Gear (individual Treasure) needs a tweak for campaign play 
  • A few EDGES are getting added together - like Magic Item/Magic Weapon is now just Artifact and Beautiful and Charming are now just Alluring

Hi there! I was wondering if we might have an update soon? :) I am brand new to the game. I probably should have bought the base book directly instead of adding it to my pledge so that I could begin playing and getting to know the system, but now I must squirm while I wait to get it all at once I guess. :D
