We're 2 hours from the end of the campaign and almost $30,000 from meeting the funding goal ... I think it's safe to call it over, don't you?
It has been a fun ride though! Sharon and I just made four pizzas in the Fire Pit Grill pizza oven attachment β all in record time β and I'm happy to say that I've dialed in the temps better than ever. If the existence of this little pizza machine was the only thing to come out of this campaign, I'd still call it a success.
I'm dedicated to figuring out how to get grills together for those of you who backed and still want to take a grill home. I can't promise that I'll be able to make all of the options available β after all, that is what the $55,000 goal was all about. But I'll do my best. Anyone who is interested, please email me at [email protected] to discuss details.
The kind folks at BackerKit wanted you to know that you may see some confusing wording around your pledge. But since this is an all-or-nothing funding model and I failed to reach the all-or-nothing goal, you will not be charged anything for this campaign. As they put it,"you will still see a record of your pledge for now, but rest assured that the card on file wonβt be charged."
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you and the support you've given us by backing this project.
I hope to be working with many of you soon to make a few cool custom grills.
Hi Everyone, I can't tell those of you who have backed the project, how thankful I am to have your support.
I have two favors to ask of you:
1) Is there anyone you can recruit to join the campaign? If each backer brought 1 new backer in, we'd likely reach our goal!
2) I want to know what we should be doing differently. What aspects of the campaign, visual communication, product design do you think we need to improve?
I built a few different prototypes before arriving at this one. Yes, the appearance is rough, but geez this functional prototype really performs nicely.
So here it is, the Pizza Oven attachment for the Fourneau Fire Pit Grill!
We love this thing so much that we've decided to offer it to you now as an add-on for $250.
We estimate this attachment will cost about $350 when manufactured. If you want one, just increase your pledge by $250. No doubt the design needs more work, but if you back us now, you'll get to have input in the rest of the design process.
What is left for us to do?
Upgrade the steel to stainless steel
Experiment and decide between steel and cordierite for the baking surface and ceiling material
Refine the slider and pivot hardware
Massage the form to make it a little more beautiful
What do we need you to do?
Share your feedback to make sure it does what you want it to do (write your comments below!)
Share the campaign! We aren't going to be able to produce ANY of this stuff if we don't reach our $55,000 goal
Hello Backers! We got started on the new features prototypes and dang have we had fun!
To start: the vertical skewer holder
I welded a rolled-ring into the bottom of the Fire Pit Grill's core cylinder. As the second point of contact, this holds the skewer at an angle that keeps the food right over the fire bed. I loaded a marinated pork loin onto the skewers which I made fresh from steel bar so that they were the right length.
The things works beautifully!
I rotated and flipped the skewers through the cook and they produced a really even cook. I took the skewers off a little early and the meat at the very center of the line wanted a little more cooking. Since it was lunch time, I simply cut off the meat closest to the ends and slid the rest into position to keep cooking. I wish you could taste them!
We popped this video onto our Instagram (@fourneauoven) as well to make it easy to share with friends!
The goal is still a long way away, so please take a few minutes tonight to share the campaign with your community and with any groups you think would like it.
Thank you for joining the campaign and supporting the project! Ted
