It's about companionship, getting older, and learning to share your artwork with other people, and the joy when someone you meet finally "gets it". Music of Les Mystères: A cultural legacy is a lot to bare, but when someone wants to steal and warp it for their own murderous, power hungry means, you need to turn to the darker side.
Music of Les Mystères's transports the reader to the life of a young woman trying to come to terms with the abusive of her culture and history – something she barely understands herself. When she inadvertently draws the ire of someone willing to kill to erase her and steal her heritage, she'll need to find a way to make peace with herself, and the misunderstood world of Vodou.

Inspired by the exploitation of Haitian Vodou in 20th century cinema, this is a story that seeks to turn the tables with thrills, chills, and a powerful universal message.

It's always exciting to collab with someone, doubly so when they're a friend and wonderful bunch of people. Critical Kit are launching their first comic book, written by Tim Roberts (creator of Be Like a Crow, Punk is Dead, and many more) based on a short story of his own, with art by the inimitable Ezequiel Rubio Lancho.

It's comic book, a southern gothic thriller/horror, the first part of a longer storyline about about progress vs tradition, family secrets, revenge and rabbits.

If you back both Rabbit Stew and The Dying Art of Mystery, we're going to team up to create a two-page comic uniting both of our works in one little story – totally free.

One simple stretch goal: If we hit £800, we're going to do Spot UV printing on A Dying Art & Music of Les Mystères, to make those physical covers shine.

These horror novels are intended for mature audiences – though with the world of YA literature being what it is, I'm not really sure what that means for "age ranges".

Safe Spaces: There are no there are no mentions of sexual abuse, self harm, suicide, slavery, or domestic violence.

Trigger Warnings: A great deal of blood and gore, gallows humour, and a healthy dose of body horror. Sex Lives of the Spider People also, spoilers, has some sex in it (rude!).

A Note on the world of Music of Les Mystères: This story revolves around a young North American woman born into a Louisiana family of Haitian descent. The villain in this story is a white man seeking to appropriate her culture and religion for his own gain, but with a very warped and "outside" view of what that culture and religion actually is and means. The villain serves as a depiction of racism and cultural appropriation, and the story uses the genre of horror to explore these uncomfortable issues (and, spoiler alert, punish the villains).

The project is being worked on a short timeline to make sure you get everything in a timely fashion. That said, full-time jobs take up a lot of time, and I think it's better to err on the side of caution!

As it's the first campaign I'm running, I wanted to make sure I get this part right. So I will be working with trusted friends and business associates Critical Kit to help with our fulfilment. Here's what the dynamite duo of Tim and Sarah have to say:

My love of horror began with a pound shop bargain bin, and a lone VHS copy of Lon Chaney Sr.'s Phantom of the Opera (1925), which ignited a lifelong love of all things creepy, morose, and otherwise troubling to the real adults around me to this very day.

Working with Parable Games for the past five years on all manner of things from SHIVER, Sisterhood, and ION Heart, I'm excited to spend some more time within my own written worlds for a brief moment. Termination Notice is my first full novel, and I'm very grateful to Parable team for loaning me the digital rights for this campaign.
