Our Story

Seven years ago, AdorkaStock, Jade Macalla, Null-Entity, and PirateLotus-Stock got together for a fantastic photoshoot that resulted in loads of amazing action and dramatic pose references. Now, we want to perform the magic again.

Join us in helping bring this amazing weekend of poses to life!

Six photos side by side of various pose references AdorkaStock, Jade Macalla, Null-Entity, and PirateLotus-Stock took in the past.

What are pose references for artists?

Whether or not you’re an artist, you likely know that accurate drawing doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Artists often draw what they see and encounter in everyday life. That’s where pose references come in handy. Artists can both learn from and reference photographic poses to help bring their artworks to life, giving them a realistic feel and gravity that imagination can’t always do alone.

AdorkaStock, Null-Entity, PirateLotus-Stock, and Jade Macalla have all been providing such free and low-cost references to artists for 19+ years.

On top of these photographs being valuable resources for artists, the photos we take are entirely safe-for-work, meaning that teachers can (and have!) use these in their classrooms to help guide future generations of artists to come.

Who we are

Since 2007, AdorkaStock (formerly SenshiStock) has been working as a pose reference model and photographer to bring the artistic community work-safe reference photos. Sarah (she/her) is the main model and owner. Find AdorkaStock on her website AdorkaStock.com, Bluesky, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, and TikTok.

Kyle (he/him) started Null-Entity in 2012 with a borrowed camera and zero experience for a Deviant Art community challenge.

Building upon that over the last 12 years with proper equipment, his body of stock is now some 6000+ images strong, has taken him halfway round the world.
And starting his own stock related version of Inktober in 2020 aptly named "StockerTober"

Posting on a regular basis his work can be seen in his gallery on:

And yes he is duck mad!

Erin (she/they) has been providing resources for the artistic community for over 15 years. A graphic designer by trade, she prefers to spend her time on the couch with a cat on her lap. But hanging out (sometimes literally) with a group of stellar stock models is a close second.

Jade (he/him) is a hands-on generalist with a diverse skill set. He is rather old, so he has had the opportunity to do a lot of goofy stuff. Most recently he has been producing and directing various types of immersive experiences.

Ruby Ball (she/they), aka fugitiverabbit, is an artist, photographer, and art model living in Western New York with a profound love of painting beautiful and surreal depictions of fat folks. Sifting through the dregs of limited to downright offensive reference materials drove her to start the reference collection known as Fat Photo Ref.

Ruby believes that all people in all bodies deserve love, care, and respect. She hopes that the inclusion of underrepresented body types in art is the first step towards greater acceptance and celebration of these body types in society.
David (he/him) is an archer, pole dancer, and fantasy nerd who goes by Blumineck and David the Arrow Bard on social media. His speciality is replicating fantasy tropes and trick shots, on or off the pole

Blue (she/her) usually specializes in "Adventure Dog Photography," but that just means she has lots of experience wrangling chaos and creating epic photographs in all sorts of adventurous conditions! If you'd like to see some cute dog photos (and seriously, who doesn't want more cute puppies in their life?), you can check out Blue's work at:

How It Works

Step 1: We raise funds on BackerKit to cover the cost of flights, lodging, food, a studio rental, and other fees and expenses associated with the trip. Step 2: Once raised and funded, we book the studio rental, and schedule a time and day that works for all models involved. Step 3: We fly out and have the photoshoot! Step 4: Photos are reviewed and edited. Step 5: Backers receive their rewards via digital download!

Rewards

Our main goal is to fund the core four models and photographers to travel with us to a studio location where the photoshoot can take place. Backers who help us get there can enjoy a variety of rewards after photos are selected:
Grey graphic with various group photos that reads: Reward #1 Basic Highlights Approximately 50 Images $5
Tier 1: $10 Basic Highlights. You’ll receive a digital reward with about 100 images, after editing.

Aqua graphic with various group photos that reads: Reward #2 Extended Highlights Approximately 200 Images $30
Tier 2: $30 Extended Highlights. You’ll receive a digital reward with about 200 images, after editing.

Orange graphic with various group photos that reads: Reward #3 Everything! All images! $100
Tier 3: $100 Everything! You’ll receive a digital reward with all of the images taken, after editing. You can roughly expect a few hundred to a thousand photos.

Stretch Goals

If we smash through our initial goal of $6,000, we have some extra goodies that we know you’ll love as an artist!

Grey graphic with photos of FugitiveRabbit and Blumineck that reads "Goal #1 Ruby & David + Expanded Props, Unlocks at $8,000"

Unlocking at $8,000 we welcome Ruby Ball aka FugitiveRabbit and David the Arrow Bard aka Blumineck into our group photo shoot session! This stretch goal includes travel for two more models (one of which is international) and an expansion of props including weapons, crash pads, and everyday objects. And yes, we will try to make sure David has a pole. This goal is unlocked!

Aqua graphic with various photos of aerial shots and underwater that reads "Goal #2 Aerials & Underwater, Unlocks at $9,000"

Unlocking at $9,000 we have room to create some fantastic aerial/hanging stuff for you, as well as underwater scenes including the often sought after mermaid tails! This goal is unlocked!

Orange graphic with photos of AdorkaStock in her line and "supersuit" that reads "Goal #3 Suits for All, Unlocks at $10,000"

Unlocking at $10,000 AdorkaStock’s lined zentai suit has made waves for those learning the curve of the form and anatomy in general. It’s super helpful for foreshortening, perspective, and more. If we reach this goal, we’ll buy fitted suits for the remaining three models and take some photos with the suits on! Please note that suits can be hot and uncomfortable so not all photos will be taken in the suits if this stretch goal is unlocked. This goal is unlocked!

Grey graphic with various group photos that reads "Goal #4 Double It! + Video & Lighting Unlocks at $12,000"

Unlocking at $12,000, any tier except the "everything" tier will get TWICE as many photos. All tiers will enjoy some limited video as well as dynamic lighting! The goal is unlocked!
