How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

🔭 How does crowdfunding work on BackerKit?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to turn creative ideas into reality. As project starters, we present our concept - and backers like you help to bring it to life. In return, backers receive a pysical or digital item. If you want to support this project, simply choose a Pledge level that includes the rewards you want. Payment is only due when the campaign ends successfully. Important: BackerKit works according to the all-or-nothing principle. This means that your payment will only be made if the funding target is reached. Otherwise your card won't be charged - you take no risk. Please pay attention to the specified delivery period and updates - we will keep you regularly informed about the progress. Note: Crowdfunding is not a classic online order. You are supporting a creative project that has the goal to develop a project.

📦 When will I receive my reward? Your order will only be shipped once the full amount has been paid - regardless of how many installments you have already paid. Access to the survey, where you can select your desired products and add add-ons, for example, will only be activated after the last payment has been made. 💰 What happens if I cancel? Unfortunately, partial payments cannot be refunded. If you are unsure whether you really want your reward later, we recommend that you only support at the end of the campaign or switch to the one-off payment. 📬 How does shipping work? The shipping costs are calculated separately, shortly before delivery (“Charge Shipping Later”). This ensures that the prices are up to date and that you only pay for what you actually pay for. Shipping takes place at the earliest after full payment. 🌟 Why “Pay Over Time”? This option is ideal if you want to secure a larger package - such as several Cosmic Unicorns or limited extras - but don't want to pay the full amount at once. This way, you can secure your favorite rewards now while keeping your budget under control. 💬 Communication: I will inform all supporters about the current status of the campaign via the update function

💳 When will my payment be debited?

Your payment method will only be debited when the campaign ends and the funding target has been reached. If the campaign does not reach the target, nothing will be debited.

📦 What happens after the campaign ends?

As soon as the campaign has ended, you will receive an email with a survey. This survey is used to collect further details about your order - such as shipping address, selection of the desired plush toys and pins, or else confirmation of the products selected in the pledge levels, additional add-ons and, if applicable, shipping costs. The survey will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when you supported the order. There may be additional costs (e.g. shipping or additional items) that will be charged when the survey is completed.

🐶 How do I choose my favorite Plushie?

You have several options with Cosmic Unicorns: 1. Choose your Furball Puppy or Enamel Pin from the Pledge Levels. Each product is listed individually. 2. 🌀 My favorite Furball Puppy is not unlocked yet - should I support anyway?

Absolutely! Every pledge - even if your favorite character is not available yet - helps to reach stretch goals and unlock new characters. You can adjust or cancel your pledge at any time until the end of the campaign. Tip: Support any plushie you want right from the start - and adjust your selection towards the end of the campaign if necessary.

🔁 Can I cancel my support or get my money back?

Once the campaign has been successfully completed and payment has been made, refunds are only possible in exceptional cases (e.g. in serious circumstances) and only within 3 months. After that, we may be able to offer you a voucher in the amount of your contribution for our store. If you are not sure whether you would like to receive your reward, please cancel before the end of the campaign. If you have any questions, you can contact us directly at any time.

⭐ Are there any AddOns?

Yes! In the add-on selection you will find items from the current “The Furball Puppies” campaign. For example, you can addtional plushies, Enamel Pins or stickers. You can easily add all add-ons during the campaign our in the survey, following after the campaign ended.

💳 How does “Pay Over Time” work?

Thanks to the “Pay Over Time” function, you can pay your contribution in several convenient installments - pay conveniently in four monthly installments - without any interest or hidden fees. This offer automatically applies to orders of USD 150 or more. Perfect if you can't pay the entire amount at once. The amount is automatically debited at the end of the campaign. When your total amount reaches 150 USD, you will be offered the option to pay in installments in the Pledge Manager (after a successful campaign). As soon as the campaign has been successfully completed, you will receive a survey. There you can select the installment payment option in the Pledge Manager. Your order will not be shipped until the total amount has been paid. Important: The first installment is due after the end of the campaign. So make sure that your payment method is covered. There is no interest or hidden fees - you simply pay in several installments. Even over 150 $/€ the installment payment is optional.

Important note on customs import fees

Dear supporters, Because may products are sent frome EU (Germany), I'll inform you about the shipping conditions in- and outside the EU and worldwide in this post: Please note the following important information on customs and import fees for orders INSIDE the EU: -> No additional customs fees apply to orders within the EU. As the EU forms a single market, the usual invoice is sufficient – a customs declaration is not necessary. Means: 1. no additional customs duties within the EU 2. There are no customs duties or import sales taxes for deliveries within the European Union. You only pay the price shown in the store (exceptions: some special areas such as the Canary Islands, Faroe Islands, Heligoland - see below). Please note the following important information on customs and import fees for orders OUTSIDE the EU, but still Europe: German VAT (or the respective local VAT) is included in the purchase price. For deliveries to countries outside the EU, however, additional costs may apply: These include customs duties, import sales tax (or local VAT), and processing fees charged by customs or courier services. According to our information, all these fees are usually paid by the recipient. As the project founder, I declare the correct value of the goods in the shipment, but accept no liability for any import duties or delays caused by customs. Please note: Each country has its own import regulations. Before ordering, find out about the applicable regulations (e.g., customs tariffs, allowances, tax rates) so that you can estimate any additional costs. These fees are not considered a reason for return - returns due to customs costs are generally NOT possible. IMPORTANT: - All of the above fees must be paid by you as the recipient and cannot be covered or reimbursed by us. - Customs fees are not grounds for complaint. If you refuse customs clearance, the shipment may be returned to us - you will also be responsible for the return shipping costs. -As well as in the customs information provided by DHL/the German federal government (e.g., “Customs duties and import sales taxes are collected from the recipient” and “Shipping to the EU area – no customs declaration required” - According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, imports from non-EU countries are generally subject to import sales tax, and customs duties may also be levied on goods worth €150 or more. In summary and somewhat simplified: 1. no additional customs duties within the EU There are no customs duties or import sales taxes for deliveries within the European Union. You only pay the price shown in the store (exceptions: some special areas such as the Canary Islands, Faroe Islands, Ceuta/Melilla, Livigno, Helgoland, Büsingen). 2. customs and import duties outside the EU Deliveries to non-EU countries (e.g. Switzerland, Great Britain, Norway, USA, Canada, Australia, Asian countries) may incur additional costs due to customs duties, import sales tax and possibly other charges. The amount of these fees depends on the value of the goods, the country of origin, the type of goods and the respective regulations of the destination country. 3. responsibility of the buyer All import duties, taxes and fees incurred are to be borne exclusively by you as the recipient. As the sender/project starter, I assume no liability for these costs and cannot influence or calculate them in advance. Customs clearance is usually handled automatically by the shipping service provider. 4. No reason for return Customs and import fees are not a reason for a free return or cancellation. A subsequent refund by me is excluded. 5. refunds for returns If you return goods abroad, you can apply for a refund of the import duties paid at customs under certain conditions. However, this is associated with effort and proof requirements and is your responsibility. 6. special cases and information Great Britain (UK): After Brexit, the same rules apply as for other non-EU countries. Norway, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia, Asia: Each country has its own thresholds, tax rates and customs tariffs. Please check with the respective customs authorities in advance. Special areas in Europe: Special regulations apply to some regions within Europe (e.g. Canary Islands, Faroe Islands, Ceuta/Melilla, Livigno, Helgoland, Büsingen). Customs duties and taxes may also apply here. OVERVIEW: - EU (single market): There are no import duties within the EU. As mentioned above, a customs declaration is not required. VAT is already included in the price. - Non-EU Europe (e.g., Switzerland, Norway): Separate rules apply here. For example, Switzerland currently levies 7.7% VAT on imported goods. Under certain circumstances, customs duties may also apply above a certain value of goods. Please check with the respective customs authorities. - United Kingdom (UK): After Brexit, British customs and tax law applies. As a rule, British import VAT (20%) is levied on goods worth £135 or more, plus possible customs duties depending on the product category. Parcel services often charge an additional processing fee. - USA/Canada: There is an exemption limit for the USA (currently approx. USD 800). Customs duties may be levied on higher values. There is no general import sales tax in the USA (but there may be local sales tax). Parcel service providers such as DHL/UPS often charge flat rates (e.g., around €6–15) for customs clearance. In Canada, the exemption limit (as of 2024) is approximately CAD 20 – above this amount, customs duties and GST/HST are payable depending on the goods. - Australia: Australia levies a Goods & Services Tax (GST, 10%) on goods valued at approximately AUD 1,000 or more. Customs duties may also apply above this value (depending on the type of goods). - Asia (e.g., Japan, China, India, etc.): The regulations vary greatly. Japan, for example, has a duty-free limit of ¥10,000 (no customs duties below this amount, but GST applies). China levies import taxes even on low-value goods (e.g., 11–13% on electronics). Find out about the respective country in advance! 7. further tips Please find out in advance about the exact regulations and fees in your country. Check whether the retailer participates in the so-called IOSS procedure (applies to goods worth up to €150 to the EU), which simplifies processing and makes fees transparent. Make sure you enter your contact details correctly so that the shipping service provider can contact you if they have any queries. To summarize: For all orders outside the EU, you are responsible for paying any customs and import fees. These costs can vary considerably depending on the country and value of the goods and are not a reason for a free return or refund from me. Please inform yourself in advance to avoid surprises! This is my first campaign, so I cannot exclude the possibility of errors. I therefore ask for your understanding. However, I would be happy to receive tips or advice from experienced backers.
