Serpentscale is an epic boss-battling board game for 1-3 players set in a fantasy world where Rune lords and their Rune serpents stand in your way.
The game offers a unique mix of exploration and combat, with powerful relics to uncover as well as intense battles against colossal enemies and mythical beasts. Explore, strategize, and customize your journey as you connect and flip cards to reveal the next step of your journey.
Take on the role of a Serpent Knight, an adventurer seeking to collect all of the Rune Stones. You'll have to venture forward, battle enemies, and uncoverthe secrets of a world filled with arcane weapons and powerful runic spells. Play solo, team up with friends, or compete to prove your skill in this massive, interconnected adventure.
In Serpentscale, you will lay out over 120 cards which connect together to make a giant two-sided art piece measuring over 4 feet (1.2 meters) long. But don't worry - you can always play one section at a time if you don't have space to lay out the whole thing!
The first step is to join the environment cards to form a connecting landscape.
Then, starting on the bottom left, the player can flip any adjacent card, revealing part of an enemy, item, weapon or armor.
If an enemy is revealed, you will battle them using our new 'Guess D6' Combat System. To attack, you roll a dice and try to guess the outcome. A correct guess will you land a hit, and you can remove one of the enemies health crystals. Each weapon uses different dice and varies in attack damage, accuracy and status effects. If you play against another player, you will both guess at the same time, one player guessing to attack and the other guessing to defend. This makes the combat really interactive, leading to some tense moments! If you flip a card and reveal an item, weapon, or piece of armor, you may roll to see if you pick it up. You will often have a choice between multiple options - do you need a shield for extra defence? Or do you choose the powerful spell book with limited uses?
In the Legendary Edition, you can also choose a custom metal card of any Rune lord or Serpent - along with a custom message or signature of your choice!
The extremely talented CCDriver made all the art for this project - the characters, the items, and even the backgrounds. Everything you see was all hand-drawn, then brought to life in stunning digital colour.

Timeline
The card art and graphics are illustrated and designed and the rules are thoroughly playtested. We are expecting to fulfil to our backers by October 2025. Exact ship dates will vary based on region.
