After more than 1,000 days in the hospital, acclaimed Marvel Comics artist Jeffrey Veregge lost his battle with Lupus April 12, 2024, leaving behind family, friends, and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations.

I had the privilege of calling him my friend.

We met at Free Comic Book Day at Avalon Comics in 2017. I was a timid fan that just started my comics making journey, and Jeffrey immediately welcomed me into the comics community - and all but thrust me under his wing. Jeffrey was immediately in my Twitter DMs. Guiding me. Supporting me. Making sure I saw the value in myself that he saw already. He was the first to read any of my comics (outside a small group of family and friends), and he was the very first person to ever call me 'brother' after I came out as trans.

We collaborated on two occasions, and due to his falling ill, one of those projects will never be completed. 

Instead of mourning a project that will stay shelved, I'm offering my last collaboration with Jeffrey as a limited edition enamel pin. Proceeds will be donated to The Veregge Family to aid in covering medical and funeral expenses. 

I chose to run this fundraising through BackerKit because it functions like Kickstarter, which many of Jeffrey's fans may be familiar with. (But unlike Kickstarter, BackerKit allows fundraising for charity!) Like Kickstarter, your cards will be charged on 5.30.24 when the campaign ends.

The base $300 goal is to cover the production of the pins. Shipping will be charged separately after the campaign. All additional monies will be donated.

Timeline - 
May 14 - 30: Campaign is live.
June 11 - 14: Funds are released to me. Surveys/shipping info is sent out. Pins are ordered.
August 1: Shipping begins.

This was Jeffrey's take on a "modern Medusa." We joked that it gave of big Cyclops (X-Men) vibes, with her glasses hiding her true power. Haha!

This limited edition pin will be approximately 2.5 inches tall and silver plated. This is planned as hard enamel, so it'll have a smooth, polished finish. The pin will have silver metal plating, and two pin posts to secure the pin in place.

Pins will also be engraved on the back, numbering them. We'll only be producing enough pins to fulfill those ordered through this preorder. (Plus a handful of additional pins to be gifted to the Veregges.) 

In addition to the pin, we're also providing the option to purchase both t-shirts and art prints featuring the Modern Medusa.

These add-ons will not be limited or numbered, but it's highly unlikely that they'll be reproduced in the future. 

As with the enamel pin, all proceeds will be donated to The Veregge Family. With the exception of keeping one of each item for myself, I will be making no money from any of these items.
