we're releasing a version of Cremisi #5 we've never released before — Cremisi #5 CLASSIC!
Classic? When Cremisi #5 was being produced, I had originally planned to keep the book in the classic black, white, and crimson art style. As this was the end of the first arc, it was special to me. I wanted to celebrate finishing the first arc of my passion project by giving it a full-color send-off. (That and the budget for full color existed for the first time in the series' history.) Originally, the book was done in the classic style, but these pages were never released. All future issues of Cremisi will be done in the classic style.
Another major change was, as seen above, Renee being topless. This was removed in the full color version. I wasn't comfortable with Renee being presented in an adult manner as this did not make sense for her abrasive personality and extreme distrust of other people. I wanted the reader to feel Renee's hatred of not only others but for herself as well. Up until Rita appeared in SuccuBUSTED!, Renee had the biggest booty of any of my characters — something she hides with a jacket around her waist as she despises being ogled. In lieu of this, having her offer fanservice felt disingenuous to the character, so it was changed in the final version. This traditional variant of issue #5 still has those pre-edits. Sorry, Renee! The next arc of Cremisi will see Renee begin to get comfortable with both her own body and being around other people. Growth takes time, and Renee, like most of Cremisi's cast, needs time to conquer her own demons. As she grows and develops, she may become more comfortable with being perceived both clothed and unclothed. Love you, Renee! - Isaac Fox
