PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: August update - some problems and delays
Hi folks
I wanted to let you know that we are currently dealing with some problems with the UV/blacklight flashlight that we had planned to include with Lovecraftesque, and this is causing a delay to the delivery of the physical game.
We'll come back to you when we've got everything resolved, but right now it looks as though the flashlight may cost us a great deal more than what we were originally quoted. We're discussing it with the manufacturer and we still hope to find a solution. However, given the cost increase, one option we're looking at is to removing the flashlight from the game, which would mean you would need to source your own flashlight if you want to view the hidden art included in the game.
The UV/blacklight flashlight isn't needed to play the game, and the hidden art isn't part of gameplay - it's just a cool decoration on the rulebook, box and board.
We're really sorry about this. If you have strong views about the flashlight now is the time to let us know!
We've had to suspend the manufacturing process while we resolve this problem. Once we've completed our discussions with the manufacturer, we'll move to complete manufacturing as quickly as possible - and we think the game will still ship before the end of November.
Again, we're really sorry about the problem with the flashlights, and for the delay this is causing. We'll come back to you in September and hopefully by then things will be much clearer.
Best wishes
Josh and Becky

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: July update
Hey folks
Another quick update as we're mostly waiting on our manufacturer to do their thing.
Production of the "mass sample" - the final sample copy of the game, made to the same standard as the eventual mass produced game, commenced in early July. In theory that would put us on track to receive the sample around the end of August, meaning the finished product should ship out to our warehouses some time in September. We would therefore likely ship the product to backers in October.
A small (I hope!) snag has arisen in the last few weeks, however. Just as we were about to move to the next step of the project, our manufacturer (Longpack Games) raised the need for "safety testing"[1] of the UV/blacklight flashlight included with the game. I'm in the process of researching and discussing the requirements with them, to make sure that we're compliant with regulations. Although I'm told that it shouldn't add to the production time, it's clearly a risk.
I'll update again in late August, by which time we should have a much clearer picture on both the sample timeline and the safety testing issue.
Josh
[1] Actually appears to be primarily testing in relation to environmental regulations.

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: June update
Hey folks
Another quick update this month. Everything is settled in terms of the product design, layout, art, and production spec, and we're waiting for an invoice from Longpack Games, which will be the trigger for them to create the "mass production sample", i.e. a proof copy of the game done to the exact same standard as the finished product. That's the final step before commencing production, and then shipping the product to our warehouses.
Honestly I was expecting to be able to say in this update that the mass production sample was already underway, so things have definitely dragged a bit this last month - partly due to spending some time getting small but important tweaks made, and partly due to general slowness at Longpack's end. Rest assured that those tweaks are now finished and I'm continuing to pro-actively push things along (i.e. nag Longpack).
Right now my best guess is that production will start in August, and complete in either late Aug or early Sep. I'll do another update in late July.
By the way - did you know our Actual Play podcast Black Armada Tales is a finalist in the Crit Awards? The winner is decided by public vote. Black Armada Tales has done an actual play of Lovecraftesque. So, go and have a listen to that if you haven't already and please do go and vote for your favourites in the Crit Awards.

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Progress update
Hey everyone!
This will be a quick update. Everything is progressing well with Lovecraftesque second edition:
This will be a quick update. Everything is progressing well with Lovecraftesque second edition:
- The virtual playroom and virtual expansions are done and everyone in the appropriate pledge levels should have received access to those.
- The issues with box size looks to have been resolved. A new sample copy of the box is on its way to us - hopefully arriving in the next week or so - and provided that doesn't surprise us, we will move to the next step in the manufacturing process.
- The next step is to create a "mass production sample" - which basically means a copy of the game that uses the same materials as the finished version, and is factory made rather than assembled by hand by Longpack's design team. If that looks ok, printing will commence on the finished product.
By the way: we will be at UK Games Expo next week, and we will be showing off the sample copy of Lovecraftesque, and we hope to offer a game of Lovecraftesque at Indie Games On Demand as well - pencilled in for Friday afternoon. We will also be bringing our other games - see the photo below for an idea of that - and some new products too. If you're there, please do drop by and say hi. We'll be in stall 1-856 (the UK Indie League stall).
I'll do a further update in late June.
Yours
Josh (and Becky)
