Project Update: Winter break is nearly over...
My dear students,
The winter devils come for us all, and this year they came for me. So much for my plans of seeing this through my the end of the year for the plague of our times left me confined to the infirmary. I'm so sorry I left you without an update.
But we dust off our trousers, accept the poor grade when it's given, and retake the course. While I may have missed the deadline I initially set, I'm thrilled to share that the text has completed rounds of editing and proofing. Additionally, those updates have made it into the book.
Further, I had a print proof come in over the winter break, and some of the pages came out darker than I would have liked. I'm ordering a second print proof later this week now that I've updated photo and art contrasts. I've also adjusted quite a bit of text so that it's not too close to the internal margin (or what the industry pros call the gutter).
You may have received a notification that surveys are set to lock in 48 hours. That's because I want to get the digital copy out to you as soon as possible! I may still make some tweaks to it before I officially order the full print run in the next couple of weeks, but the book is mostly done! Please make sure your address is up to date!
These photos are from the proof print. The Divines page has changed since this printing.

Project Update: Surveys are in your inboxes✨
Greetings, Students!
Surveys went out yesterday and many of you have already set to filling them out. If you're getting your name in the book, please fill out the survey ASAP.
There was a small issue that wasn't caught during the smoke test with early digital backers and the sticker sheet regarding shipping fees, but that should be fixed now. Unfortunately, the early-bird incentive was for physical pledges only, and I mistakenly applied it to all pledges that came in the first 48 hours. If you were a digital pledge, but you added physical add-ons, I went ahead and left the stickers on your account. If you decide to remove the physical items, feel free to contact me!
If you had a digital pledge with surprise shipping fees, that should be fixed now! Thank you for your patience!
If you're not sure how BackerKit works, your cards won't be charged until I lock surveys closer to the beginning of January. Even if you saw fees, you weren't unexpectedly charged yet.
Something else I wanted to mention regarding Canada: I don't think the strike will carry on into next year, but in case it does, that will delay shipping to your country. I won't be crossing picket lines.
That's all for now. Stay warm!

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Backerkit Surveys Go Out Wednesday! And check out these stickers!
Greetings, my wonderful students,
Earlier today I sent out the smoke test to a few lucky backers to iron out the kinks for the backer survey before it goes to all of you. We did find one issue that's been smoothly flattened for the rest of you. If you were one of the students chosen for this honor, please fill out your survey as soon as you can so that we can clean up any other issues that arise. The rest of you should get your surveys Wednesday morning!
Surveys won't be locking until early January, and you'll have notice before I do that. So if you're planning to move or need to update something later, there will be time! The sooner the surveys are filled out though, the easier it is for me to make certain estimates, so I appreciate your help!
"But how is progress on the electives going," I hear you asking. Well my eager friend, edits have been completed and a proof print has been ordered! I'll share when it arrives. There are a few more things to do before we start the final round of proofreading (looking at those of you who'll have your name in the hall), but we're still on schedule!
Now, with that out of the way, how about a look at the house crest stickers! These just arrived today, and I'm so thrilled with how they came out! Even if you missed the early bird opportunity to grab these, they're available as an add-on! Plus, they fit right inside Tangled Blessings!

Project Update: The Final Round of Editing
Good tidings, students!
It's time for your monthly update! Our wonderful editor returned edits to me yesterday, which means, the next few weeks I'm burying my head with revisions.
But worry not, my studious readers. The backer survey was submitted to the greater gods for approval yesterday. This is a crucial (and arduous) step in the creation process. I'll need most of you to fill out the survey before we place the big order at the end of the year so we can get a good handle on numbers and such.
The main folks who'll need to fill out the survey ASAP are those who pledged to have their names in the book. To help you with this task, I created the "Great Mage Name Generator." Anyone can use it (feel free to leave a comment with the name you generate)! If you're an Acclaimed Alum, please be thinking on your credit name now so that when the survey comes in the next week or two, you can fill out it without surprise or writer's block.
For your exploration, I created a couple other generators as well. You can meet other students or play Tangled Blessings without a tarot deck. Find all the new generators here.
Finally, below is a peek at the last big piece of art I did for this project. I hope you enjoy it! Something strange seems to be happening at the third-year masquerade! Stay safe, my students!
Always yours,

Project Update: Editing has begun! New previews inside!
Greetings, Students!
I hope this message finds you celebrating the great mages of history, especially since it's their season after all. If you haven't found the time, don't worry. The great mages of history will make sure you make time for them.
Now, onto an update!

✍The book has gone into its first round of editing!
You might be thinking, wait, that's a little late! And you're right. I had surgery and health issues that left me without energy for a few weeks. That said, my goal is to have this dang book ordered from the printers by the end of the year -- the tax man will come if I don't! So I promise I'm working hard behind the scenes to get caught up while holding everything to my high standards.
📜We're clocked in at 140 pages total!
The core book is only 64 pages! This expansion more than doubles the base game! I'm really proud of that! Scroll down for a preview of the PDF. Some pages are blank while I work on more art.
I wanted to make sure that it was easy for you to add content from this book into your game. To that end, the front matter is dedicated to, for lack of a better word, onboarding you. You'll be greeted by a section that gives a snapshot of everything included. After that, you'll turn to a flowchart. My hope is that this flowchart helps you understand where to slot material in at glance. I know a whole second book can be a bit daunting when adding extras!

💝A gift!
Your support means a lot to me. One thing I've always wanted to do is deepen our relationship. But when I asked the tarot cards, they said you remained neutral to me. Oh well.
Over the last year or so, I've heard many people wish that Tangled Blessings had an official relationship mechanic for the Rival. I'm pleased to say that I cracked what I think is a fun addition to the base game. This is still slightly in development, but I hope you enjoy the surprise! Once it's finished, there will be printable PDFs available on my website for free. This is also in the new book too of course.
If you've ever played Blades in the Dark, you might be familiar with clock mechanics, and that's basically what this is. Ironsworn, another GM-less tabletop RPG, also makes use of relationship trackers. This small spread borrows from those ideas and offers a tiny twist with the tarot that's intuitive and folds into the game without needing extra components (other than the tracker). You'll use the Major Arcana cards you already draw and make further use of them to grow or deteriorate your relationship with your Rival.

👀Here's all the spreads!
Aren't they something? Just look at all the terrible things that await you!
🤔What's next?!
Now that layout and writing are complete, I'll be finishing up art and setting up the Backerkit survey. The surveys take forever to build, so the sooner I can get started on that, the better for everyone. I'll be back next month with hopefully some fresh art and an announcement that the book is in the proofing stage!
Best,
