We’re proposing a new pin series celebrating the most important missions in human spaceflight history. Like before, each pin will be about 2” with a double rubber clasp backing—but this time, we’ll vary the metal colors to match each mission’s design.
This project is part of the Super League of Science, a curated group of science-inspired crowdfunding campaigns all launching together on BackerKit. From dodos to deep space, bugs to birds, each project offers a fresh, creative take on science—through art, pins, apparel, and whatever else we dream up.
The first mission of human exploration on the surface of the Moon. Neil Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface on July 21 at 02:56:15 UTC; Buzz Aldrin joined him about 20 minutes later. They both spent just under a day before rendezvousing with Michael Collins piloting the command module in lunar orbit and returning to Earth.

ISS
International Space Station is a microgravity and space environment research laboratory which supports experiments in biology, human biology, physics, astronomy, meteorology, and other scientific research. It is also the current record holder for the longest continuously crewed spaceflight mission now since November 2000.

Vostok
The first human spaceflight in history. Vostok 1 was launched on April 12, 1961 from Baikonur Cosmodrome with Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, making him the first human to cross into outer space. It was also an orbital spaceflight consisting of a single orbit and took 108 minutes from launch to landing.
Space Shuttle
The Space Shuttle (STS) was a partially reusable low Earth orbital spacecraft system operated from 1981 to 2011. It repaired satellites in orbit, including the Hubble Space Telescope, and launched a few interplanetary missions such as Magellan, Galileo, and Ulysses.

Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle
The Lunar Roving Vehicle was featured on Apollo missions 15, 16, and 17 from the years 1971-72. Each vehicle drove an average of 30km on the surface of the moon and were ultimately left behind upon departure.
AUG: This was pre-launch. We polled for pins #4 and #5 which were decided to be for The Space Shuttle and the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle.
AUG 11: On Aug 11 we go live until September 9.
AUG 17: We will post the design Apollo LRV.
AUG 11-25: We will decide if we add a second stretch goal in the first two weeks of the campaign.
SEPT 9: Campaign Ends
SEPT 16: We plan to send surveys
SEPT 23-31: Production will begin depending on responses from the pool of backers. Generally when we get around 70% or responses we have enough to project what we need to order.

All print designs shown here are adjusted for 13×19” paper. The artwork itself measures 18.5×10.5” plus a white border of varying thickness, giving framers the option to display a border or matte to the art’s edge. We do not trim to the edge and don’t recommend it—it can result in a sloppy looking edge presentation without a frame and makes framing more difficult by removing excess material.
Giclée prints are archival quality printed on an Epson with ConeColor inks on Red River satin paper.

Chop Shop Store claims several space exploration partners including The Planetary Society, SETI Institute, Explore Marsand Yuri’s Night. Nothing but praise and thanks again to The Planetary Society without whom the original campaign for the Historic Robotic Spacecraft Series would have been but a shadow of what they ultimately became.
Thanks also to your for reading this far and considering your support of this Giant Leap Pin Series.
