Project Update: General Update & Meet the Main Villain!

Hello all! I hope this message finds you well

Time for the weekly update!

I have finished chapter 4 & I am now a few pages into chapter 5! It’s looking like I’m on track to getting this thing done by either the end of the month or the beginning of next month.

I really believe I would have gotten this thing finished were it not for the holidays & getting ready to exhibit at a convention - but I’m coping.

Now time for some Lore drops

So who (or what) is Terrace? Terrace is short for “Terrace Warfare Science Applications”. TWSA is a privately owned mercenary warfare corporation. They hold no allegiance to any country or any singular entity/group. They are not partial to any cause or reason, other than money and resources to further experimentation. The head of TWSA is actually a board of people. One of the people on the board, of course, is Dr. Glass.

Dr. Martin Glass is a scientist who specializes in biomechanics & merging man with machine. It was his idea and mission to take the mercenaries who had been wounded in combat, outfit them with mechanical limbs, and send them back to fighting. Dr. Glass isn’t without his own code of honor though. His first experiment was himself, taking his own arm and replacing it with a mechanical limb so as to know all the hurdles that would need to be overcome first hand (no pun intended).

Dr. Glass shows up for the first time in chapter 2 of “Am I Human?” And trust me…you’ll be seeing a lot more of him.

Project Update: One Chapter Left!!!

Hello all! I hope this message finds you well

Time has come for another update on “Am I Human?”!

Currently I am on the final page of chapter 4. One final chapter left and I’ll have Part 1 finished! I have been keeping my head down and grinding away at this book, learning what I can about my own process and trying to improve my own art along the way. Page by page I can see subtle improvements, and I’m starting to settle into a process of how to make comics. I’m going to make a YouTube video soon about it, I think it’ll be fun to document it then go back to it in a years and see how much has changed.

This being my first dive into making comics I was a little nervous about what it meant to finish a book like this. My own timeline wasn’t met, but I’m not very far off of it. I’m still on track to having it sent off to the printers in March, which was still my original goal but it appears that the shipping may be in April. It really causes me to appreciate these Japanese mangaka who make a chapter in a week for these serialized books. Absolute machines.

I’m going to do better about updating you all since I need the practice in consistency. So what I’m going to do is make some character profiles and world building drops to wet the appetite before the books reach your grimy mitts!

So until next time, here’s some un-lettered pages as a teaser!

Project Update: New Year! Same...me?

Hello all! I hope this lil update finds you well!

It's a new year & we are all setting goals that have probably already been tossed out with the trash by this point (lol). That being said, I want to first start off by saying that if you want to accomplish something, the real meat of the goal is obtained by tenacity when you don't feel like continuing. So much of what we want to change about ourselves or change about our lives will have to be achieved by making ourselves uncomfortable. But! The time passes anyways, might as well learn to get comfortable in being uncomfortable.

Alright, I'm getting off my soapbox.

Progress continues on Am I Human! I'm well over the halfway mark, still on chapter 4/5 but it's moving. Something I'm trying to do is improve my art with each drawing. Already I can tell that I have improved since the beginning of the book. Kinda wild how doing something over and over causes you to get better at it... Anyways, I have even started writing on chapter 6. I'm assuming the next part will be crowdfunded this year but I am going to attempt to get more of it done prior to the campaign. I had no idea how busy winter time was going to be for me with having this project. It definitely got in the way and slowed me down but it didn't stop me fully.

As for me and my lil studio, check me out on YouTube! I have been trying to post more regularly & l have also been livestreaming weekly myself worjing on the graphic novel (in case you want to come hang out with me whilst I work or even watch the vod.

Soon I'm going to launch a website to host all my digital stuff and sell my physical stuff as well. If you are like me, you aren't pleased with most online retail spaces so it is a must to have your own.

**IF YOU ARE IN THE PHILADELPHIA AREA** I am going to be at PAGE next week running a booth. Come by, say hey, vibe with me for a little while and we can shoot the breeze. I'd love to see you there!

Until next time!

Project Update: Progress Update!

Hello all, I hope this update finds you well!

Progress is moving along on the Graphic novel, I am currently on chapter 4/5 and trying to get back to working on it daily. I had some other projects take my attention from it for a little while (I've got a tabletop Kickstarter coming up in February) but since the writing is done for that I can focus more on the graphic novel!

That being said I am also experimenting with making stickers myself instead of ordering through a website. If you follow me on Instagram (@gridlock_studios64) you'll see some of them. The print quality, as far as clarity, is still really good. However, there are print lines showing up? This is something I've noticed on other pages I've made with that printer as well so it's not the paper itself, I'm still going to look into it more before I do my final print of the stickers!

But yea, just wanted to give a lil update on the project! It's moving right on along, can't wait to see this bad boy in physical print! If you want to watch me work on it, I stream myself drawing on both Twitch & YouTube as well as having the VOD's uploaded on YouTube. Come by and hang, I'd love to see you there!

Until next time,

Project Update: Quick lil update!

Hello all! Just giving a quick update regarding the project!

So far I’m close to being done with chapter 3 of the graphic novel & I’m slowly cranking the pages out. I’ve also been working on designing the sticker packs today as well.

As far as the Pledge Manager goes, I’m still waiting for Backerkit to approve it before I can open up late pledges. So until then I’m kinda at a standstill on that aspect!

Until next time!
