Good morning! There is not much to report on the pins, I just wanted to say hello. Pins in progress. Here is what I have been up to instead of clogging your in-box.
This is Chloe and her 2 kittens
This is Shadow. She had 6 kittens in April
It is kitten season! I didn’t know that was a thing until I fed a feral cat that was visiting my yard. Then suddenly I had 5 coming for dinner. Two were pregnant females. I realized I need to do something before we have dozens. I read up on TrapNeuterRelease programs. I bought my own trap. I put fliers on doors in about a 400ft radius from my home which is near a cross road of fences in the neighborhood looking for the kittens. Posted in Nextdoor and FB. Finally got help from our neighborhood organizer. Within 2 days I got messages from ladies just outside my radius that the kittens were in their yards. Shadow’s kittens were coming out to play. I couldn’t get traps set up until a few days later, after thunderstorms came through . The kittens had scattered. We caught mom and 2 days later got 3 kittens but never saw the others. I got Shadow spayed and kept her for 7 days with the babies.
All piled on mom. She was getting upset with us by the end of her recovery time.
Big cage with lots of room, but mom makes the best sleeping spot. I didn’t realize how much work would be to socialize 3 kittens. But, it is so much fun and they are getting really sweet. They are now 8.5 weeks old. Next I have to get Chloe and her two babies. They have established my yard as home and play out in the open. Her babies are 12.5 weeks old. I couldn’t find them until she started bringing them here to eat a few days ago. They had already disappeared when I was trapping Shadow. So my days are filled with a herd of animals. My 4 resident cats, 3 kittens inside, and 3 cats plus whoever else comes for dinner outside, possums and the occasional raccoon. I also have a meal worm farm going to feed some tiny wrens every day. That started before the kitten craze. Yet it hasn’t completely kept me from shopping 😹. When that slows down I might have inspiration to make more cat pins. Have a great summer while we wait for pins to come.
