Project Update: The Cult That Never Was update #4

For my fellow creators, I see you. This first project has been humbling in the dark corners of late nights. There are no hints, tips, or guides that could save me from the uniquely mine types of challenges. There were times I thought, "wow, this is easier than I thought," and then the very next day, "why has nobody blogged about this issue?!" Anyway, I am climbing the learning slope and growing resilient and resourceful each step. Thank you for paving the way and reaching back to support us that follow.

To my backers and supporters, the final version has been sent to the printer! I need to approve the proof and then they are going to crank out 200 copies for this limited print run. My timeline was off, but not by too far. I'm heading to Chicagoland to celebrate my middle child graduating high school. I may catch a game at DMen Tap downtown! I suspect that the print copies will be ready for pickup when I get back and I'll be hosting a packing/labeling party on June 2 to get your orders just right. Then it's up to the good ol' USPS. I suspect that I will only send one more update at that time.
Thank you for loving TTRPGs and DCCRPG in particular!

Hi team. If I don't fill in my survey will I still get my pdf? Just checking the survey and $50 for shipping a pamphlet to the UK is simply more than I can afford to pay. I'll just make use of the pdf. If I don't fill out my survey will I still get the pdf or will I need to reach out to you separately?

Project Update: The Cult That Never Was update #3

I have tried to keep the updates to a minimum since I know Backerkit also sends automatic emails. Maybe I'm extra careful because I'm backing so many projects and getting too many emails. And this is only my hobby. I get too many emails from work too ;)

However, I want to be in communication to the general backer body. For most of you, there have been no issues and for that, I am grateful. 60% of surveys are completed. I am locking orders today and then PDFs will be available to download. This is an exciting day as my passion project will have so many new eyes on it!

But there were issues for those of you who only backed the PDF but also backed my collab partner Black Mountain. The freebie I chose for that was a physical Papa Legba sticker. That initiated a whole shipping nightmare because those backers were defaulted in the "Everywhere Else" shipping region which tried to charge them $49. I have solved this for most of those folks individually with some clever solutions. If yours is still not resolved, please reply here and I'll give you the options.

If you still haven't completed the survey, please do that right away.

For the general updates, here is what's next:
  • handle any "stomp the typo" feedback (please send to me right away)
  • send masters off to the printer
  • pickup 222 copies of my printed passion project
{somewhere right about here, I'll go to the very first DungeonCon!!}
  • sort out and print the shipping labels
  • call my team to get together and have a "post office party"
  • drop the postal box full of print modules at the post office (while we still have one)
  • fix myself a Black Manhattan and celebrate
  • then get right back at it for DGG's next adventure module, The Great Pyramid of Atum-Isfet.

Thank you all for being a huge part of why the DCC community is the BEST in TTRPGs!

I only backed for the pdf. I don't need to pay shipping cost. Yes shipping is expensive. I once paid 25 dollars to mail something to Italy (full sized piece of paper) so the envelope was larger, and considered a type of 'package', not a letter. Yet, this and other stupid high shipping costs were reality long before the tariffs and so I am not doubting the shipping cost is accurate. I need the shipping cost removed to complete my pledge confirmation though, as I didn't back for the physical product, only the pdf. Did we already get our PDF copies? Are they going to drivethrurpg? or were they going to be via Download on this backerlit or were they simply sent to our emails. Once the shipping cost is removed I will complete my survey. Remember the best type of cult is the one that never was. Unless they become an established religion and take over society.

I have to agree with the others - $49 for shipping a PDF is quite outrageous, even in these times! I'll wait until the survey is corrected. :)
