PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Gen Con 2025 Preview
After years of development and playtests, a successful campaign and a breeze of a manufacturing process, Duat will be finally be available to the general public for purchase and play at Gen Con 2025 (provided there are no shipping disasters from overseas).
Before then, we were hoping that some of you might consider giving Duat a boost in visibility on Board Game Geek in a couple ways:
BoardGameGeek's Gen Con preview
Each year BGG puts together a preview showcase for Gen Con of all the new games from various publishers, and that includes us! If you're so inclined, follow this link and give us a thumbs up.
Giving Duat a rating
If at some point you've gotten a chance to play Duat, consider leaving us a rating! We'll need 30 ratings before it can be given an average rating - if you're curious to know more, here's how the BGG rating system is intended to work.
Anyway, thank you all again - we'll be in touch soon when the production copy comes in.
Till then!

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Survey Time!
Hello everyone!
I know it's been a while since our last update, but we appreciate your patience in the meantime. I'm sure most if not all of you are aware that the tariff situation in the US has been tumultuous at best, but fortunately we've got everything worked out thanks to our incredible manufacturer London Pendragon.
Timeline:
Everything has been going according to plan and the manufacturing process is drawing to a close! We'll receive our production copy sample within the next week and I can't wait to share pictures of how it all turned out.
The current plan is to split our shipment in half, where we'll receive the first batch at the end of July in time to fulfill your Backerkit orders and have some left over to sell at Gen Con!
What we need from you:
Before we can lock your orders in, you'll need to fill out a quick survey and confirm some details like your backed tier and shipping address. We sent out the surveys a few days ago and already have 60% completed, so we're off to a great start on that front! If circumstances have changed since you initially backed our project and you would like to cancel your order, you can do so at any time for a full refund - as long as you do so before we lock in the orders and begin printing labels and shipping them out. I'll post another update before we lock orders in, likely in the final week of July.
Shipping Details:
We've got shipping rates worked out for everywhere and it should be in your favor across the board. We love Duat, but being made of solid marble - it's a touch on the heavy side. To try and make it more affordable for you all, we'll be absorbing some of the cost of shipping.
If you are local to Boston or would like to arrange pickup at Gen Con, select the local pickup option and we'll arrange the pickup afterwards. In Boston, we will have pickup locations available at Knight Moves Cafe in Brookline, as well as the Co-Operatives Puzzle Room in Quincy Market. As for Gen Con, just stop by our booth #2937 and claim your copies there.
If you have any questions about pledge fulfillment, local pickup, or anything else, just email us directly at [email protected].
Thank you all for your support and we'll be in touch soon!

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Fully Funded
Hello everyone!
After funding entirely a few hours in on day 1, this campaign has only grown from there. You all have come from all over to make this happen! Some of you were there when this was just some wooden blocks on a piece of paper, others found us at various conventions and provided us with valuable feedback, and others still only recently discovered this game. We have high hopes for Duat, and thanks to all of you and this initial strong start, those hopes have only gotten higher! So whether you've been here all along or just joined today, we're terribly grateful that you're here.
If you happen to be local to Boston and would like to try out one of our preproduction copies, I'll be at the Boston Festival of Indie Games (BOINGA) this weekend! There will be a variety of games shown off in various stages of completion, whether in the crowdfunding stage like Duat, early prototypes looking for avid playtesters, or fully released games waiting to come home with you!
Regardless of if we see you this weekend or not, thank you again for supporting us and sharing our belief in this game. More updates to follow!

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Happy Launch Day!
It's finally here, let the campaign begin! To celebrate the launch of Duat, we've decided to put together a little something that no one asked for but we just think is neat.
Over at Unphazed Games we’re big fans of Chess. My dear friend and co-publisher Devon Trevelyan owns the appropriately named Knight Moves Cafe in Brookline, MA and competed nationally in his youth. I, on the other hand, clawed my way up to an unremarkable 1000 rating on chess.com and am immensely proud of it.

I, on the other hand, clawed my way up to an unremarkable 1000 rating on chess.com and am immensely proud of it.
Needless to say, when I began designing a similarly strategic abstract strategy game like Duat, Devon proved to be a worthy (see: oppressively, relentlessly good) playtester and partner with whom to play. Those many playtests led us to the decision that Duat would benefit from a notation system similar to those found in other abstract games such as Chess, Tak, Hive, etc. So without further ado, here's an extraneous way to record and analyze your games because it's ~cool~
Moves are denoted as pairs of information that mark a piece’s location and direction at different times. In this example, a piece begins on the space 2B facing North (Compass directions are dictated from the side of the player with the black pieces). The piece then moves one space forward, ending on the space 3B and still facing North. This move is then summarized as: 2BN - 3BN.
A full turn can be up to three moves long, and could be denoted as:
2BN - 3BN
3BN - 3BE
3BE - 3CE
Where the piece moves North, turns to the East, then moves East.
In the future if anyone posts a board state and asks for a way out of a given predicament, you can now confidently reply with a sequence of suave notated moves. That or just let them know they're boned.
Either way, we're grateful to have you join us here on the fields of Duat!
