Age of Maya: Campaign Setting All 3 Books
The Journey Behind Age of Maya
Age of Maya is a campaign setting three years in the making and still growing. It was shaped through hosting TTRPG events, streaming, personal games, and running live shows using this world. This setting has been playtested, shaped, and molded alongside our community. The art in the books are by local Houston community.
This is not a typical European medieval fantasy tabletop RPG. Age of Maya is a culturally rich game inspired by real world myths, love, and tradition. As a Hispanic creator, I rarely saw myself reflected in these books growing up. Age of Maya was built so anyone and everyone can see themselves in its pages.
The cultures within the setting are influenced by real world mythology and celebration, from Día de los Muertos inspiring the goddess of death, Seupltura, to the Festival of Love honoring Amo, with direct ties to Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colors. You can open the book and see Mami Wata reflected in the ocean goddess Oceana.
Divine and Conquer is a multicultural team across many spectrums of identity and the queer community, we were intentional in making sure certain prejudices of the past did not find their way into this setting. Concepts like racial supremacy, inherent evil species such as infernal kin, or homophobia and transphobia simply do not exist in Maya. These are real world horrors we live with already, and we do not need more of them in our games. Age of Maya explores darkness through myth and fantasy, not through hate.
These books were written with two core ideas in mind. First, this is your world you belong in it second, this is your world to shape, mold, and make your own, however your table and friends need it to be.
