Apart from chatting with a few people in DMs or elsewhere, long time no update! I feel like every week I mean to sit down and give everyone the scoop, but the time just keeps on slipping. So here is the full transparency update on what's been up:
Personally:
I really wanted to get this all done within the year mark of the crowdfunding, but back in March I had an opportunity for a new job that really took over my life for two months (look out for Mountainhead streaming May 31st on Max 😏). That job has wrapped and before anything else starts I have been catching up on my home life and this project.
Unfortunately, in taking on new work and finding myself between projects for the first time since 2020, my mental health has not been tip top the last few weeks. Turns out not having guaranteed employment and a baby on the way can stress you out. But I have started some new treatments and things feel much brighter!
The Book:
The book remains perpetually at 80% complete. As I have said in past updates, every time I came close to finishing, I would pull it apart and tinker. I want to make sure it's as good as it can be before it's committed to print.
The great news is: I am very happy with it! All that remains this time is to proofread it, add some last details, and it will be locked and loaded.
Due to the quantities I am ordering and where I am ordering from, tariffs should not impact anything.
I wish I had a better ETA other than 'soon,' but that's as much as I can hope for right now!
The Extras:
In the course of working on my last job, I met a new printer and I am re-ordering the free March Madness prints. I wasn't satisfied with the last ones. These ones will be printed on nice watercolor paper. I will post a picture when I get them!
Part of the difficulty in figuring out this book was evolving ideas on presenting a story alongside the artwork. Ultimately I decided that the book would be better without, but I have decided that I will release a supplementary zine at some point (after the books are delivered, of course). This will come to all backers free of charge as a big 'Thank You' for your ongoing patience with the project.
Thank you all so much for supporting me. I always told myself I would never launch a crowdfunding project unless it was ready to order because I figured it could get in the weeds like this, and I was unfortunately right 😅 But that's okay, it's all a learning experience. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

On top of this 33 Thursday being Thanksgiving, would you believe me if I told you that it was the 333 day of the year, and that there are 33 days left until 2025? Look it up! I'm not one to deny a silly bit of frequency bias, so I knew I had to make an update:

Shipping/add-on/preorder payments have been collected!
I will be sending out all clothing orders tomorrow!
The book feels like it's almost it needs to be. It continues to evolve from what I originally envisioned, but always for the better. I'm not seeking perfection, but I am seeking for the project to feel 'right' to me. Whenever I make good progress, it often is three steps forward and two back as I disassemble and reassemble my ideas. Never at the pace I'd like, but always forward.
Anyway, I wanted to say how thankful I am for all of you, the investment you've made in me, and your patience. Look forward to your shirts if you ordered them, and stay tuned! You have my word that we're close, and I really want to get the books before the year's end.

Surveys are very close to done, I just had to manually send out a few to people who seem to not have been receiving updates in their inbox.
That means that any shirts or sweatshirts will ship very soon!
My good friend and fellow artist Camilla Stark agreed to write an introduction for the book, and it's really nice!
I recently changed directions a bit for layout to some thing that I think will be even better!
The okay news:
Since I felt some new inspiration for the layout, the book is going to need a little more time. I think we're still on track to get everything out in the next ~2 months, but my original goal of shipping in September is unfortunately too soon. I promise the changes are going to be worth it!
And finally, something new to preview:
Below is a picture of the type of material making its way into the book. I decorated this dream journal as a missionary, and I felt like it was kind of my first journey into religiously inspired collage, so I am scanning it to include it in the book!

March Madness Art Prints!
Almost all surveys are done, and now that August has been done I am getting close to locking a lot of things down. If you haven't ordered or finalized anything, do it sooner than later! I will make sure to send a final 24 hour warning.
We're getting close! Hopefully I can show you some completed spreads in a future update very soon!

Art prints are ordered and printed but I haven't seen them come yet. I need to check with the shop.
About 75% of backers have done their surveys, so thank you if that's you, and if not, get on it! I'd like to have orders locked by the end of the month or so!
I also have an editor lined up to look over the manuscript (once I get it locked in)!
