I'm designing the book with 1900s art-nouveau flourishes, and filling it with a bunch of all-new illustrations. You're going to love it.

A collection of 8 different short stories, with a bunch of my own, all-new, hand-drawn illustrations. Mostly focused on Dorothy Gale as she grows up in Oz, along with Ozma, Toto, and all her other queer friends.

(These were originally written as separate, stand-alone works of Oz fiction, so they won’t all fit together with perfect continuity. Don’t worry about it. Baum certainly didn’t.)

It'll be 150+ pages at 7 x 9.25". I'm aiming for a paperback edition first, but I would love to make a hardcover option, so that'll be one of the stretch goals.

I have one of the original 1906 printings of Baum's fourth Oz book, and I'm using that as an inspiration. Expect lots of classy old-fashioned text styles and art-nouveau flourishes.

Mostly to printing the actual book, since paper costs keep going up. BackerKit and Stripe (the payment processor) each have to take their cut. I built in some emergency padding, for any surprise expenses that pop up along the way. Once all the packages are shipped, I'll probably have enough left over to take myself out for celebratory pie.

I've also been an Oz fan for as long as I can remember, and have spent the past couple years vaguely wanting to make a book about it. Printopia 2026 finally prompted me to take the leap.
