Stink City is a mysterious city in the depths, which is only whispered about behind closed doors. The city is protected by a beastly stench that only its inhabitants can tolerate and which they even find pleasant. Conversely, they perceive the fragrant smells of the upper world as a terrible stench. No one knows exactly where this stench comes from, whether it was there before or is produced by the inhabitants. There are several legends surrounding the treasures of Stink City. For example, there are said to be mysterious spells that work via smells. For a mouse from the upper world to be able to tolerate the smells of Stink City at all, some preparation is necessary: either protect yourself with a smell mask or a spell that reverses your sense of smell and makes it similar to that of the inhabitants.
Stinkcity is the first Popup-Dungeon for Mausritter. The pamphlet can be folded into A5 and is full of adventures placed in Stinkcity, a unique city guarded by its special smell. The Popup-Dungeon can be easily built by yourself. You just need scissors and glue. Follow the written and illustrated instruction in the booklet, or watch the video step by step. Trust me, you got this. I already had a small print run in German community, and they could make it work, so you can too.
The development of the first Popup-Dungeon: Stinkcity
During my ttrpg workshop with children, I noticed a children's book with typical pop-up elements and thought, why not use it as an adventure setting? It took a few prototypes, but I was able to complete the adventure module within two months.
This was my first prototype:
first draft of stinkcity
With each prototype, there were more details added. Small hidden details and creatures lurking in the depth of the dungeon.
Finally, the dungeon was quite full of creatures and dangers. Stinkcity was tested with kids one more time, before it was printed as a small print run in German. It is really great to receive feedback and photos of others, that build the dungeon by themselves.
This project is already finished in development and tested. So you will get the digital copies as soon as the crowdfunding ends. The physical copies just needs to be printed and shipped for the English-speaking community. This will happen along with all other projects via the discounted group shipping. Estimated delivery is January 2027.
THIS PROJECT IS PART OF THE DISCOUNTED GROUP SHIPPING. 13 out of the 16 projects in the Mausritter Month event are part of the group shipping, which means all rewards from these projects will be grouped and shipped together so that you potentially save upwards of $125 on shipping. For instance, if you're in the US and back Junk City + 10 other projects, you are paying only $46 and not $142. Find out more here.

Hi, I'm Felicia, author and illustrator from Germany, known as Knurrkater in ttrpg communities. I work with several german ttrpg- publishers such as Ulisses, Redaktion Phantastik, Plotbunny Games and System Matters. My favorite topics are folklore horror, historic settings and crime, but I do love funny and cozy games too. I also publish my own creations on itch.io and sell physical copies on Kofi-Shop. I do the writing, illustration and layout of my work all by myself. Only for proofreading, I have external proofreaders. Since 2024 I discovered Mausritter for my as a quick to learn system, that can be played with different ages. The short flyer format invites using it as a playable material on the table. I participated at the Mausritter GameJam 2024 and have a lot of fun to develop new creative formats for this.
