Commway Communications announces their latest initiative, the Dreamscape Immersive Connected Experience. It is a virtual reality communications hub, gaming platform, and business center that allows users to connect with people across the system.
KP City, Kentara Prospect - Commway Communications announced today that their project, codenamed “DICE” is a new immersive experience called Dreamscape, and will be available to the public at Commway Comms stations in all systems.
“DICE, or the Dreamscape Immersive Connected Experience, is an innovative new way to connect with people in your local system, whether they’re your neighbor or someone in a different city or station!” Commway President Bradford Whalen said, “We’re installing Dreamscape stations next to all of our Commway terminals everywhere, so if it’s not available now, it will be soon.” Whalen went on to say that all Commway franchises are expected to have at least one or two Dreamscape stations by the end of the quarter. Popular locations will receive more based on demand.
“Dreamscape is a virtual overlay where the only limits are users’ imaginations,” Chief Innovation Officer Lebanon Gibson explained. “To get a little technical, the stations are a combination of a virtual reality headset and video scanners that monitor your physical movements. There are some clever haptic toys in there that let you move around and interact without walking into walls, but the simple version of all that means: it feels like you’re really there.”
Commway also announced development of home versions of the Dreamscape service, available with a subscription fee. These may not be ready for a year or more, but they promise to give people more access to the Dreamscape than ever before.
Vaporwave Wanderlust is the fourth adventure module for Orbital Blues in the Session Tapes series written by Grahame Turner. It centers around Commway Communications' latest product, an immersive virtual reality experience for work, play, and communication. This project is part of Orbital Blues Month!

In the Dreamscape, your sad space cowboys can have a brief reprieve to play games together, meet and chat with people from across the system, or engage an App Agent to search nearby systems for information on a particular topic. All without leaving the comfort of your local Commway Communications hub!
The book will include a series of descriptions, rules, Troubles, factions, locations and NPCs for this new world-within-a-world, as well as an adventure featuring a Data Heist. This adventure introduces the Boilerplate Syndicate, a criminal organization whose main stock-and-trade is in banned or restricted media. They're hoping the players will help them get an old film that's entering the public domain before the former copyright holder can lock it behind a streaming service forever.
Features:
New virtual world that acts as Internet, Social Media, and Play Space.
New virtual world Gambits and Troubles
Data heist scenario
Virtual world NPCs and groups
A new criminal/religious faction of book preservationists, the Boilerplate Syndicate
The rest of the Orbital Blues module series, informally referred to (mostly by me) as the Session Tapes, is also available. These three books have already been written and published, and are otherwise available through Itch.io or the Soul Muppet store.
Electric Sheep Shuffle: An exploration of what Artificial Intelligence might look like in the Orbital Blues universe. When a shady businessperson starts selling ship AI out of a local station, some nearby ships start going haywire. Unintentionally inspired by (or predicting) the modern interpretation of "AI".
Jumpgate Charade: When a body turns up outside of a jumpgate, this kicks off an adventure of revenge, treasure-hunting, and intrigue that the crew may just have to hang on for. Inspired by the 1963 Cary Grant film Charade.
Station-bound Semitones: The ill-fated Renegade Sisters' tour keeps running into roadblocks as they go from station to station. Modeled after Earthbound's Renegade Five, this is a series of 8 mini-adventures to let the players help their new favorite jazz outfit complete their tour.
Hard copies of the original three modules
Backing at either of the Session Tapes levels will get you physical or digital copies of all four books, and they are each available a la carte as add-ons.
Grahame Turner (he/they) is a small tabletop games creator by night, cybersecurity technical writer by day. They are best known for their Orbital Blues modules, A collection of minigames for trad RPGs called Restful Actions, and a few small projects that make it into a lot of Itch.io Charity Bundles. He lives in Vermont, USA with his partner and two very handsome cats.
Shipping will be collected after the campaign ends.
Shipping will (most likely) be from the US, and depends a bit on how many physical orders I receive. I have got some ideas for support, although these will depend on the volume of physical orders.
I've also got support from the rest of the Orbital Blues Month team, so while this is my first project, I've got people I can ask questions as things progress.
