Project FAQ
Yes, SpectraTone Red was designed in response to feedback received from thousands of professional trumpet players over the past three decades. The final design of the rims and internal components was finished in late 2023. Building on the success of SpectraTone Yellow and Blue variations, Red is specifically designed for lead, commercial, and pop genres.
SpectraTone Red is made in Denver, Colorado by Harrelson Trumpets. You are welcome to tour our shop and see first-hand how we make our mouthpieces, trumpets, and accessories. Please call us at 303.657.2747 to make a tour appointment.
SpectraTone is an extension of the Harrelson 5MM Modular Mouthpiece System, which is the choice of thousands of professional and touring musicians worldwide. We have sold over 6,000 mouthpieces since the introduction of Harrelson mouthpieces. You can hear our equipment on hundreds of Grammy nominated and award winning albums, Blockbuster movies, International name brand commercials, concert tours, and much more.
All backers will receive a pledge manager survey in January detailing exactly how to determine the best rim size and shape for your specific needs. We are also here to answer any questions by messaging us through this Backerkit campaign. Or you may call us at 303.657.2747.
We get this question often. Harrelson Trumpets has been sourcing our high quality brass stock from our partner foundry in Ohio, USA. All brass products produced by Harrelson are made from certified materials.
SpectraTone Red is completely modular, and we offer cornet backbores within our modular system. However, this campaign will include the specified Red backbore for trumpet only. You are welcome to order an extra cornet backbore separately.
The C2 Body is only offered in Brass.
316L SS is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum austenitic stainless steel very resistant to corrosion. Titanium is 45% lighter than Stainless Steel, also exhibiting a very high resistance to corrosion. Both materials are considered hypoallergenic and safe for daily contact.
SpectraTone Red is not a "cheater" mouthpiece. This is not another, "squeak a few high notes and smash your lips" design. In fact, it is the exact opposite. Red was designed with a cup that is a 1/2 size more shallow than a Bach "C" cup, and a very unique double cup design that funnels the air stream immediately into the throat. Red feels open in all registers, and it is fairly easy to play down to low f# with a big open tone. This mouthpiece was designed for all around players who want to gain control and stamina in the upper register while providing the tonal color for commercial and pop music including Pops Orchestra, Big Band, Latin Jazz, Lead, Commercial, and anytime you want to stand out as a soloist.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
