Project FAQ
There are always risks to consider when running a crowdfunding campaign. Anticipated risks include: ensuring the books arrive on time and in pristine condition; ensuring the production of items from the stretch goals aren't a hindrance to meeting production goals, and that shipments of signed copies go out on time. I will overcome these risks with time management, attention to detail, communication, and a strict delivery timeline. That said, I will communicate with you and let you know what's going on and how I plan to address any production or shipment delays.
**WATCH THIS SPACE: This is a tentative schedule that will continuously update/shift as the project moves forward.** The current timeline for this project is as follows: 2025 -------- 9 September- 30 September Run campaign Continue to write book. Contact and schedule editing. Contact artists to begin reward production. 1 October - 31 October Finish writing the book. Self-edit and send book to editor for first round edits. Finalize works with artists. 1 November - 30 November Complete first round revisions. Begin reward production. 1 December-30 December Send to editor for second round edits. 2026 -------- 1 January-15 January: Complete set up and send out Smoke Surveys Complete second round revisions. 16 February -31 February: Assess Smoke Surveys Send book for third round edits. 1 March – 30 March: Send out the rest of the surveys and begin ordering rewards Complete third round revisions. Complete tasks for publication (Copyright, LCCN, Ingram Spark etc.) 1 April -30 April: Complete ordering and begin packaging rewards May 2025 - June 2025 Ship any rewards that weren't shipped out in April. **WATCH THIS SPACE: This is a tentative schedule that will continuously update/shift as the project moves forward.**
Digital rewards will be available as early as March 2025, barring any unforeseen issues. I will ship all physical rewards, and any extraneous digital rewards, no later than May 2025. I will keep you apprised of the exact access/shipping dates as the project moves toward completion. Critiques and One-Hour sessions will take place between October and December 2025. I will send out a calendar via survey and/or email once the campaign ends and all pledges have cleared. You must schedule your session within 48 hours of receiving the link.
Ebooks will be distributed via Bookfunnel, where Backers have the option to download a PDF, read in the Bookfunnel app, or download to their Kindle. DIgital 4x6 art prints will be distributed via BackerKit. Instructions for manuscript critiques and one-on-one meetings will also be distributed via BackerKit.
🩸If you sign up for a one-on-one conversation with me, a link to a calendar will be sent to you via email once your pledge clears so you can schedule your critique session. Scheduling will take place between 24 and 48 hours after the campaign has ended. If you DO NOT schedule your critique within 48 hours, your spot will be forfeited and you WILL NOT receive a refund. 🩸The ONLY exception is if there is an issue with payment on Backerkits' end. In that instance, I will contact you with the link once the issue has been resolved. 🩸There are only ten slots available for this pledge level. I project that one-on-one conversations will occur between 4 October and 14 December 2025. I will not schedule any one-on-one consultations during holidays or anytime after 14 December 2025 because I will be spending time with family and friends. So please, please, please, make sure you have scheduled and attended your session on or by that date.
🩸I will critique up to 10k words of your manuscript. The critique will include notes on developmental, line, and copy edits, and proofreading. You MUST submit your document as a .docx file via a Google Drive link. The document MUST be in English. There are only five slots available. 🩸Critiques will begin in October 2024 and end in November 2024. The tentative slots available for critiques are below. I will email you a link to the calendar once your pledge clears so you can schedule your critique session. 🩸Please, be aware that these slots are subject to change at the author's discretion: 13-19 October; 20-26 October; 27 October-2 November; 3-9 November; and 10-16 November. 🩸To secure your slot you MUST schedule your critique within 48 hours from the time the campaign has ended. If you DO NOT schedule your critique within 48 hours, your spot will be forfeited and you WILL NOT receive a refund. 🩸The ONLY exception is if there is an issue with payment on Backerkits' end. In that instance, I will send you the link via email once the issue is resolved.
Shipping is NOT included in pricing. Once your pledge is finalized, and you've completed your survey, it will be applied. If you are on a tier with digital items, there is no charge for shipping. Due to the new laws regarding shipping, I suggest those who reside outside the United States to ONLY back the digital tiers. That said, I will be offering drop shipping to Canada, Mexico, and Europe via Ingram Spark for BOOKS only.
No. If you live outside the United States, Canada, Mexico, or Europe, I will not ship to you. Unfortunately, the new laws regarding shipping make it difficult to ship outside the country I reside in. And, even for the countries listed above, I'm only providing drop shipping. If you live outside these areas, the only tiers you can back are the digital ones.
There is a dropship ONLY tier for those who reside in Canada, Mexico, and Europe. If you wish to back my campaign, all you have to do is choose one of the Dropship Tiers.

Please note that if you purchase physical copies of my other books, they will also be dropshipped and unsigned. Please remember these links are only for individuals who reside in Canada, Mexico, and Europe. If you live outside those countries, I am unable to ship to you. Thank you for your understanding.
For this campaign, I am trying out Backerkit's Pay Over Time feature! If your pledge is over $150, after you select a pledge and go to Checkout, you'll be given the option to pay 4 equal interest-free monthly installments of your pledge total over the course of 4 months. If you select Pay Over Time, you acknowledge that: You understand that your rewards will not qualify for shipment until you have paid in full. You understand that any partial payments made are not eligible for a refund. You understand that you will not be able to access the pledge manager survey until after you have paid in full. Please note, this means that Pay Over Time pledges will not be able to answer their surveys until their payment plan is completed and thus might have a more limited range of options for things like character prints and stickers. **Remember that shipping is charged after the campaign!**

Choosing pay over time means you may have a more limited range of options for things like character prints and stickers since the options are first come, first serve. Also, using Pay Over Time means you forfeit the right to a refund, including to the add-ons.
The deadline for failed charges in BackerKit is September 30, 2025 or six months from the last date of reward shipments, whichever comes earliest.
Refunds are allowed for add-ons purchased during the campaign and add-ons purchased post-campaign through the survey on a case by case basis. Refunds will also be allowed on a case by case basis if there is an issue with the campaign rewards on my end. Refunds are not allowed for those who use Pay Over Time.
Your refund amount will be for the items you purchased minus the processing/Stripe fees. If you used Pay Over Time, no refunds will be issued.
The refund deadline is 11:59 PM on 30 March 2025 and is only for add-ons purchased during the campaign and add-ons purchased post-campaign.
If your survey is locked/charged, it will be unlocked ONLY for those who are requesting refunds for add-ons. It would also be unlocked if there is an error on my end.

BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
