Project Update: ☆ Series Spotlight ☆ Warrior Cats (and Campaign Close)
Campaign's wrapped up and we did great! Hit a big surge at the end too. Thanks for all your support, as always :). Since we ended nearly halfway between anyway I just went ahead and unlocked Thowra in the survey.
Surveys are already nearly done honestly, they should be out soon. If its convenient, the sooner you fill it out the easier it is for me to get production underway. We are right now figuring out how to integrate the new EU shipping charges - there will be more information about that before the surveys go out. Just be aware for EU backers that shipping will probably be quite a bit higher than it has been in the past, unfortunately T_T. When you're picking your add-ons, bear in mind (in the EU only) there's now a fee per item type in the box. We're not sure if it counts for freebies, but if it does we'll adjust accordingly. Not going to send you free stuff that actually cost you money!
Last but not least is our final series spotlight, which I saved for... Warrior Cats.
Jayfeather is our second tier unlock, a 2" standard size pin with layers of screen print. The preview is gold plated, but we might switch to black nickel depending on the manufacturer's recommendations (I don't know if the details are going to get lost).
Damn I wish I'd been the right age when these books came out. I would have been all over warrior cat RP boards. I was just a tiny bit too old at the time. I still read the books though, it was kind of a 'guilty pleasure' that I didn't admit because it would be embarrassing or something stupid like that. I could get through a whole book in an afternoon and at the time I didn't have the energy for anything bigger than that.
Listen I know this character is controversial but damn. An asshole disabled character was a revelation to me. As a disabled person myself, I truly hate toxic positivity. It is a scourge on the community. And so many disabled characters are that kind of inspo porn, 'aspirational' archetype. Or the self sacrificing kind. Or the key to the abled main character learning not to be selfish. Ugh. Hate it. Jayfeather is an asshole and I love him for it.
Also his character arc is something that pretty much every disabled person goes through, but doesn't get written about enough imo. Especially for younger people. Learning to accept there are limits to what you can do, but that is okay because there will still be something out there, you just might have to adjust your expectations a bit to find it. The 'you can do anything if you just try hard enough' mindset is so damaging. Because no. You cannot just do anything, and no amount of trying will make the impossible possible, no matter how hard you want it. And when you fail to do that thing, even the most basic of things, you will feel like the world's biggest fuck up. This came along at the exact right time for me to learn that lesson, and I think its why this series is so important to me personally. Little bit of artist lore for you there.
Note: These are just my opinions, as one person in a massive, diverse community. You are more than entitled to feel differently, and also to choose to use different language in reference to yourself.
Overall though, the books are easy reads. There are definitely a few uh. Dubious choices in there I won't lie. I did a re listen not that long ago and yeah you can also definitely tell more than one person worked on them. If its a genre that you like overall then you'll probably enjoy them, but they do not hold back on the cat vs cat violence. You may cry over cats. Just saying.
That's it for now. I'll do another update when surveys go out, and then it's all going to go quiet for a bit while I get production underway. Thanks everyone ~

Project Update: ☆ Series Spotlight ☆ The Animals of Farthing Wood
And we're counting down the last 48hours! Its flown by this time. I really meant to get this one up sooner but I wanted 100% confirmation the quicksand pin was possible by our manufacturer first.
So our first pin for this series is Fox;
A 2" standard size pin with screen print details. Its such a simple design compared to some of the others, but I really wanted something that incorporated the iconic animated design with a little more of my own personal style. I hope I got it.
As a kid I loved this series so much. I didn't read the books til I was much older, but the animated movies were my favourite. I wore the VHS tapes out rewinding them over and over again (showing my age lmao). I didn't realise until much later the movies are just a cut version of the TV show and I missed out on so much.
Fox was the best, I had fox everything. Fox plushies, fox themed books, foxes on my clothes, anything I could find. My first drawings were all designing fox families in the same style as the show. I wish I could find some, I would love to do a comparison. Kid me would lose her ever loving mind if she knew I got to do this as an adult.
I do highly recommend the series, but you will cry over pheasants and hedgehogs and there is no shame in that. I saw a Reddit thread that said before GoT we had this show and for the later seasons they are not wrong. I really should reread the books but I know they were even worse and I'm kind of afraid haha.
Also, the quicksand pin is done;
It will be about 2.5" inches, with black nickel plating and I think we got away with no screen printing. All our quicksand pins come with locking backs and probably three posts, its gonna be a heavy beast. The silhouette should sit on top of the quicksand section so the glitter moves around behind. I'm not entirely sure which type we'll get yet, it depends which manufacturer we use, as one doesn't do confetti shapes but I really kind of want leaves and I really hate single tone glitter. But something blue/green shift if I can get it. There will be a sticker version in the sticker selection too.
This is a 'special' tier pin, so you'll need to add it separately to your order through the add-on store. It will be in the survey store as well. Grab one if you want one! Last push to fund our last two tiers ~
Don't forget to vote on which sticker you want for your prelaunch follower rewards.
I think we have one spotlight left and it might be a bit controversial, so I'll save it for our campaign wrap up :D. Thank you for coming along, everyone.
Edit ~
Its the same 1.5" design, but it'll be made in soft enamel with an epoxy coating. Functionally it looks/feels the same as hard enamel, but with rainbow plating ~. This one will also have a pearl no swirl effect for the wing fade. Its not part of the general mini pin selection pool, you'll need to add one specifically to your cart. That's why I usually put it in after.
Also also someone asked what a bucket bag was and there's nowhere easier for me to put a picture. Here's the Minnow bucket bag, with terrible lighting;
They have a flat base they can stand on, they come with a detachable shoulder strap and its more of a mid blue than a powder blue. There's a snap closure just inside at the top. Its about big enough for a large notebook, pencil case, water bottle and wallet. So not huge, but not tiny either.
Hope that helps :).

Project Update: ☆ Series Spotlight ☆ The Silver Brumby
Alright I'm back with our next unlock. I don't know if we'll fund this high, so unless we jump up in total then I'm probably not going to do more designs (just the quicksand). But if we hit 5k then I will!
Our next design is back on brand with childhood nostalgia, and its Thowra from the Silver Brumby series. This is a standard size design, we're going for rose gold (I think the yellow would wash out the coat colour) although our manu's rose gold runs more coppery. Its hard to preview! This one will be 2" size with screen printed details. I don't draw horses super often, I think it came out way more cutesy than I anticipated, buuuut it doesn't not fit with the rest.
I loved this series. I loved the fact I constantly had to look up new animals because I had no idea what they were. I picked it up because my friend's Mum borrowed my copy of Fire Bringer (Rannoch is also on my list, I think we might have to do another round of these lmao) and was not very impressed, so she recommended these instead. I was never a big horse girlie, but I loved them all the same. Also I did some research and apparently the author confirmed she always intended they had the palomino coat so that's what I went with, its definitely the colouring they used for the animated series.
Check out the new poll, its to vote on which sticker you guys want for the prelaunch freebie. Those three are the ones I can best turn into special effect stickers. For Donut/Mongo, the feathers and some of the detailing would have a holo effect. For the firelizard, the whole sticker would have a metallic golden sheen. And for Martin, I'd make the background of the windows have the holo effect and not the mouse or the black lines, so he stands out 'in front' a bit. Cast your votes! Leftovers usually end up in the mystery sticker packs or for sale at our holiday sale events :). The summer one is coming up next month.
I'm a good chunk through the work for the quicksand pin, so hopefully our next update will be for that. Stay tuned ~

Project Update: ☆ 48(ish) Hour Update ☆ Fully Funded! And More ~
Sorry for the super late update! I've had a hell of a migraine since we went live.
We funded in under 24 hours! As always, I'm super grateful to everyone who jumped in to support us :).
We are actually nearly at our final unlock, so I have some previews for what comes next.
Our £4500 unlock is;
Sunshine (U-4987) from 'There is no Antimemetics Division'. I know its not one hundred percent on theme, but I really loved this book and its pretty close. This is going to be a 1.5" mini pin, and it will be in the mini pin options pool. Its going to be stained glass with printed details; the light yellow background and the orange middle will both be stained glass effect. The white highlights and the dark orange details will be printed. The metal will be gold, and there will be a single post in the middle.
To say too much about Sunshine would be to give spoilers on a book that is way better if you go in 'blind'. Its a good book, very SCP vibe (for a reason, lmao). I was never into SCPs, I didn't know anything about it before hand, but I had a good time. If existential horror is your vibe, I do recommend this one.
Our £5000 unlock will be going back to the roots of the project, we have Thowra from the Silver Brumby series. He's not done yet, but hopefully I'll have him up in the next day or three :). He'll be in the standard size. Anything we don't fund through the main campaign will be up in the add-on store for extended post campaign stretch goals.
We also have a quicksand pin coming up. This is the super rough draft I put together to check the concept worked;
Based on the Animals of Farthing Wood logo. This was my absolute favourite thing as a kid, I'm gonna do a spotlight when this pin design is done. Right now I'm just tweaking the silhouette to suit my style more, and redoing the wreath so its not just 1:1 from the original artist's work. This is going to be 2-2.5" depending on the manufacturer's recommendations, and it will be black nickel plated. We're hoping to have tiny leaves and blue colourshift quicksand in the back. This quicksand pin is going into the add-on store when its done (there will be a new update) and you'll have to add it to your order individually if you'd like one :). I don't usually show much concept work so... Please go gently T_T.
After that it entirely depends where we are! The next book on the roster after the Silver Brumby is Tailchaser's Song, but I haven't decided who to do. We'll see if we get that far :).
Thank you again everyone for your support so far. Lets see how it goes!

Project Update: ☆ Series Spotlight ☆ Redwall
Wow time has really gotten away from me. Last preview before we launch tomorrow is;
Martin the Warrior. I went for a faux stained glass effect, because the sections are going to be too small for actual resin sadly. I looked up a bunch of abbey stained glass windows for inspiration. Also more of a Mouse Guard art style, I'm really not one for anthro characters a lot of the time but I love the Mouse Guard kind of vibe.
This is a standard size pin, unlocks at our tier six stretch goal. It will be 2" hard enamel, with one screen printed detail on the ear, and two posts. We're going with black nickel for the stained glass look.
I might catch some heat here but... I wasn't the biggest fan of the Redwall books. I did read a whole bunch of them (ironically, not Martin the Warrior though!). I always hated the idea that your 'goodness' could be defined by something you couldn't control, the different species were all 'good' or 'bad'. I guess I was a bad kid and it got to me a bit. There was one book in particular about them trying to raise a weasel at the abbey and well. It made me very sad.
Tell you what though, as a really fussy eater it did make me want to try a whole bunch of new foods.
Right now this is the highest funding goal, but if we go higher then I will work on new designs until the end of the campaign. And I'll do the last two series spotlights as we go, too :).
Hope to see you all tomorrow!
