Project Update: Backer Update: A Quick Production Check-In
I want to give you a clear and honest look at where Folklore Americana stands. We are running a bit behind schedule, and that’s on me.
As I moved deeper into final development, I realized several sections I had previously marked “done” needed to be clearer, stronger, and more consistent. Instead of patching holes later, I chose to overhaul those parts now. That meant expanding multiple chapters, tightening the rules, sharpening the tone, and adding new material that genuinely enriches the game: additional Callings, more equipment, expanded folk magic, and a broader set of tools that will carry this entire line for years to come.
At the same time, the art is taking longer because I’m insisting on a unified look, one that feels lived-in, grim, and true to the era. I want every illustration to serve the setting, not just decorate it. That takes time, but it’s worth doing right.
So yes, we are delayed. But the delay isn’t from disorganization or lack of progress. It comes from investing fully in making this book exceptional, a foundation strong enough to support all the region guides, adventures, and expansions we have planned. The work is getting better, richer, and more comprehensive with every pass.
I’ll continue updating you as we lock sections down and move through the remaining art and layout. Thank you for your patience, and I promise it will be worth it. I’m pouring everything I have into Folklore Americana, and I can’t wait to show you what’s coming.
More soon,
Rick
