It's not as often you see Korean culture represented at anime cons and the craft fairs that I sell at. And most of the stuff that makes it over to America is pop culture focused. So, I wanted to bring more representation of Korean culture through my brand. It is Kimchi Kawaii after all!
This series of pins, pun-ily called Junghee's Seoul Food will focus on Korean dishes. I actually started the first two pins of the series already - japchae (clear noodle dish) and songpyeon (rice cakes traditionally served at Chuseok). It's been fun researching and designing the rest of the pins. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I have. And maybe learn along the way about the variety of dishes that make up Korean cuisine and street foods.
Each pin will be 2" with dual posts and rubber clutches and a Kimchi Kawaii back stamp. Some will have special features like screen printing and translucent or glitter enamels. The full size pins will also feature the name of the dish in both English and Korean hangul. They will also come on backing cards that have a little blurb about the food on the back.
There will also be a filler pin set in this goal too. This will be a set of four 1" pins of kawaii ingredients frequently used in Korean cooking.
The main goal will be these six designs that need $800 to fund.
Ramyeon: the spicy cousin to Japanese instant noodles.
Tteokbokki: rice cakes in a spicy sauce sometimes served with mozzarella cheese, leeks and egg.
Hwachae: a sparkling punch with watermelon and other fruit in a creamy soda blend.
Kimchi Jjigae: a hearty stew of beef, tofu and of course, kimchi.
Kimchi Fried Rice: fried rice with a bit of a kick!
Filler Pins - Chili Peppers, Ginger Root, Leek, Korean Radish: ingredients frequently found in Korean dishes.

For my Pintopia cross collaboration, I'm teaming up with the amazing artist AsherBee to make these limited edition designs featuring two of my cute foods and two of her food dragons.
These pins will be free to backers of both of our projects*. Each pin is hard enamel, 2" at longest point and features screen printed details. The Gochujang Dragon will be gold tone metal and the Cake Dragon will be a black tone metal.
*To unlock these pins, both projects must hit their main funding goal and only backers to both campaigns will get these pins. They will not be available in the Add-On shop.
*Prices below are for the items only. Shipping will be calculated and collected after the campaign through the Pledge Manager. ETA is April/May. See the shipping chart further down for rough cost of shipping to your location.
For those who want to support the project, but are more interested in items in the Add-On Shop than the food pins. Pledging this level will grant you access to the shop where you can add the items you want while still helping my overall funding goals.
Pins take about a month to produce and about a week to ship via air. Estimated delivery time to you the backer is around late April/ early May as I'll need to receive the pins, package and mail out.
Shipping will be charged separately at the end of the campaign. Estimated costs for shipping are as follows. Keep in mind, shipping charges may change by the time pins are ready to ship. All taxes and customs fees are the responsibility of the backer and may or may not be applied depending on what the receiving country decides.

Adding in a bit of a bigger stretch goal here. I'm also ARMY and love BTS. I'd like to continue my BTS pins series with this 3" deluxe pin of Jimin from his solo album, Muse.

Kimchi Kawaii is run by me, Holly! I'm a Korean American artist who's been in business now for 16+ years. I started my brand doing punny designs in the Japanese kawaii style which I've always loved. More recently, I've been doing more Korean-based themes to celebrate my own heritage. I sell my art online, at anime cons around the United States and in a couple of museums.
