BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
If the projects funds, when will the podcast be released?
I will have to start casting a lot of roles and work with the actor's schedules, so I can't give a release date. But I will send monthly updates to all backers, including progress bars. And once the first edit is done, I'll be able to share the release date!
If I chose 'The Cook' pledge level or higher, do I get to hear the show sooner than if I wait for release day?
Yes, much sooner. If you chose The Cook pledge level or higher, you'll literally get the show the day I finish mastering. After sending that digital package out to my backers, I'll start the process of planning and coordinating the release through REALM, which could take up to a couple of weeks.
I barely remember the first season, do I need to re-listen?
You will be able to enjoy this story as a stand-alone. I do however recommend re-listening to fully understand both plot twists at the end of the show. If you haven't got the time or don't feel like listening again, at least re-listening the final episode.
Do I need to hear PUZZLE BOX to understand this second season?
No, you don't have to. Think of the first season as the sun of the DECA universe, and both puzzle box and Season 2 as planets in their own right.
If I divide the funding goal by the percentages in the budget breakdown, it seems actors get paid very little money.
The funding goal isn't the entire budget. Throughout the years I've sold spin-off stories, got donations through Patreon and made a little through advertising inserts. The percentages you see in the breakdown, should be applied on the total budget.
If I chose 'The Leader' pledge level or higher, can I put the producer credit on my resume?
Yes, this is an official producer credit. You have actually invested in the creation of a show based on a pitch and a concept. So, you are a producer. If you want to use me as a reference for job applications or anything of that nature, feel free to forward my email and I will confirm you helped create this show. You're credit will also be added to IMDB, so I encourage you to create an IMDB profile if you haven't already.
