Project Update: Backerkit Smoke Test Launched

Hello Salvagers,

We're happy to announce that we've just sent out the initial smoke test for BackerKit Pledge Manager. Around 5% of you will have received surveys at this stage to test that everything is working correctly. Once that's done and we've resolved any potential issues that may arise, we'll be sending out surveys to all backers. We'll also be launching pre-orders once surveys have been sent out.

You'll be able to update your address details, change your pledge, and add any additional items you want to your pledge.

We're at a stage on the project now where we feel confident to launch, with our goal to get finalised PDF's out by the end of this month or into January, and then everything then sent into production as soon as possible.

As we noted in our previous updates unfortunately shipping prices have increased beyond our initial estimates. This will primarily affect US backers due to the increased cost of US tariffs on goods from China, however freight and ground shipping have also increased due to global volatility, and various other factors, meaning shipping for the majority of backers has gone up.

We've done everything we can to keep these costs as low as possible and bare what cost we can ourselves, however there's only so much we could do before risking the entire project simply doesn't get fulfilled due to not being able to pay for additional tariff costs, and increased shipping costs, which weren't part of our initial estimates.

We also looked into production options beyond China, however not only were our partners at Panda Games the most cost effective option, but also the best in terms of both quality, and production, other companies for example weren't able to produce a box set, and place dice in them, meaning we'd have to order those elements separately, and assemble them ourselves, or find another company to assemble them.

Meaning if we'd chosen another option, costs would have increased regardless from increased production costs, quality would have been worse, and production would have been slower, with us potentially not being able to include things like the dice, or sticker sets, which we felt would be much worse than increasing shipping costs but delivering our original promised game to all backers.

Going forwards we will be avoiding box sets and primarily focus on creating books which are free from tariffs, until at least the tariff situation in the US is no longer an issue, it was unfortunate timing that we opted now to do our first ever boxed set game given the current political turmoil.

We hope you can understand in that respect, we appreciate your patience, and support, and can't wait to get the game into your hands. If you have any questions please get in touch.

Thanks and happy salvaging,
Panny & Aled
