Dream Dragons are mysterious creatures that inhabit the space between waking and sleeping, influencing the dreams of the world. This project brings the dream dragons to life as snuggly plushies and sparkly pins.
Heyo! I'm Sabrina C. I'm a designer, making and publishing board games under my independent studio, Ludoliminal, where I've made the beautiful sci-art game Diatoms and the cute & chaotic cooperative dino game, Uh Oh, Dino!I'm passionate about creating high-quality, unique games.
One of our upcoming games features magical dream dragons and we will be creating plushie companions based on this game's dragon characters. These are our first ever plushies and I really want them to be adorable and high-quality, so to give them their own special attention, I am excited to be participating in Pintopia 2026!
This project will be my journey to bringing the first of these dragons to life. Backers who come along will be able to be the first folks to have their very own snuggly dream dragon in hand! I hope you'll join in!
My goal for this plushie is to create something soft and huggable, with floppy filling so it hangs adorably in your arms or over your shoulder. The target size is about 30 cm (12 inches).
Current Design Status We are starting a second sample round with our second potential manufacturer. The focus of this round is translating the face and other visual details into the plush structure. To support this iteration, we created a 3D model to be used as reference by the plush engineering team.
Sample #1 Last year we did a sample round with a potential manufacturing partner. Here are images of the first sample.
The overall form-factor and size of this sample were good! So exciting to see this first version come to life! For the second sample we're specifically iterating on the face, leg and tail shapes.
We expect to do a few more iterations before we finalize the physical design and confirm our manufacturing partner for the production run. I'll be sharing updates as I get them over the course of the campaign so you can follow along as the plushie design comes into focus.
We're also creating enamel pins of this first dream dragon. These will be beautiful 2.5 inch pins with glitter enamel and screenprint details! We've done pins before for our other games so this is not a new product type for us.
For this first plushie project we are focused on just one dream dragon plushie design. There are more dragon characters in the game though, so if we reach 100 backers (and for every additional 100 backers) we'll reveal one more dragon and make them available as an enamel pin.
We have started the sample process and expect we will need to go through a number of iterations over next few months. Once the design is ready, there are some safety testing and licensing processes we need to complete that we've heard may take several months. Since this is our first time doing this process we are being conservative about the timeline. We expect to ship no later than March 2027.
Shipping will be charged very close to ship time. Since shipping is possibly year out, it's hard to be certain about shipping costs but we expect the following costs: Rest of the World Very uncertain. May be $40usd or more. Please reach out to [email protected] to get an estimated quote.
Where required and possible taxes/VAT/Tariffs will be charged and collected in the pledge manager after the campaign ends as applicable to your shipping address and our business. Our goal is always to ship with taxes and duties prepaid. For most locations this is possible. In general:
USA: We will be collecting sales tax in these states at a minimum: CA, GA, OH, PA
EU & UK: Import VAT will be collected additionally in the pledge manager as applicable to your order. No taxes should be charged at the time of delivery.
Canada: GST will be collected additionally in the pledge manager as applicable to your order. No taxes should be charged at the time of delivery.
Australia and New Zealand: No GST will be collected. No taxes should be charged at the time of delivery.
Rest of the World: No taxes will be collected in the pledge manager. Taxes, duties, etc may be due when your games are delivered.
