Project Update: January Update: Project Work, Digital Downloads, and Surveys
Hello everybody!
Welcome to the first monthly update for Awaiting the Burning Gods. There's lots to share today so let's dive in. First off, I hope you all enjoyed the holidays, however you celebrate. I enjoyed a little time off myself after the rollercoaster of Mothership Month and am happy to be back at the keyboard working away on getting this thing ready for you all.
State of the Zine
Before the holidays I made significant headway on The Smuggler's Guide to 1365, including writing unique alternate start, smuggling scenarios for Awaiting the Burning Gods, Dying Hard on Hardlight Station, The Cleaning of Prison Station Echo, and Nirvana on Fire. Each scenario offers tweaks to the original set up to reframe it to be perfect for your outer rim outlaws and lead them to explore scenarios they otherwise may have missed in a standard run of the adventure.
Meanwhile, Daniel has been working through more of the art for the zine and only has a few pieces remaining. Here's his take on the mysterious Smoking Darkness Reclamations. Watch out for them stalking the shadows between the ruined towers of Ma'at!
On the layout side of things, Dai has blocked out the book and it's looking like the final page count, with all the art and maps is going to come in around 44! Should be nice and substantial while fitting perfectly into the A5 saddle-stitched format. Here’s a draft of one of Dai’s maps for the upper tomb, showcasing a “1980s cassette futurism” aesthetic inspired by low-res orbital 3D scans. The text boxes on the sides will hold notes from the Landis survey techs, prepping your explorers for their descent.

Building the Backerkit
A couple house keeping notes here regarding completing your orders, add-ons, and grabbing your digital copies.
- The Late Pledge Store Is Live: If you are reading this but missed the campaign or want to share it with a friend, the Late Pledge Store is open!
- Backer Surveys On the Way: I'm on round two of setup working with the Backerkit team to make sure all the stars are correctly aligned for the Survey. Should have those ready to go for you to confirm your order and finalize your add-ons in the next few weeks, so keep an eye on your inbox - especially your junk mail folder! I'll send a quick note when I'm sending them so you'll get a heads up before as well.
- Digital Downloads in the works: For those who ordered existing Magnum Galaxy Games titles, I’m setting up your downloads. Initially, these will be available through BackerKit, with final copies delivered through DriveThruRPG during campaign fulfillment to complete your collections.
That's it for this month. Until next time I wish you all warmth, happiness, and a critical success on your next stat check.
Sincerely,
Dave
PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Await No More for the Burning Gods are Coming!
WE DID IT!!!
Thank you all so much for making this my most backed and funded project ever. A whopping 2009 of you believed in Awaiting the Burning Gods and your sheer force of collective will has brought it to life! As are all the creators of Mothership Month, I'm deeply grateful and humbled by your support of my project and can't wait to deliver it into your hands. Plus, with the funding you've provided this thing is going to ROCK.
So, What’s Next?
- Wrapping Layout: Over the next month or so DAI and Daniel will be working on completing layout and art for Awaiting the Burning Gods and The Smuggler’s Guide to 1365. I'll be writing the last few pieces of content for the Smuggler's Guide and working with Joel Hines on his cross-collab entry of D100 treasures and contraband goods to smuggle.
- Pledge Manager: We’ll open the Backerkit Pledge Manager soon, once open you’ll be able to confirm your pledges and choose any additional add-ons.
-
PDF Release: As soon the PDFs are ready I'll release preview copies to backers for a first glimpse of the
horrorsdelights to come!
Stretch Goals Recap
Because of your amazing support, and a record setting crunch time push on the backer train here’s what we’ve unlocked:
- Custom Dice: Beautifully designed to evoke the lost treasures and culture of Ma'at.
- Immersive Audio Aids: Distress calls, creature sounds, and more to enhance your sessions.
- The Deluxe Smuggler’s Guide: A standalone zine packed with outlaw missions, ports of call, and DG Chapman's bonus adventure “Shoot the Messenger.”
Monthly Updates
From here on out I’ll be posting monthly updates to keep you informed about progress on the zine, share behind-the-scenes glimpses of the project in motion, and maintain transparency throughout the process. Expect the first of them around this time next month.
Thank you again for helping make Awaiting the Burning Gods a reality. This campaign is a high water mark for Magnum Galaxy Games and an awesome adventure and I’m honored to have you all aboard for the journey. As always, reach out in the comments with questions, requests, or just to share your excitement! I love to hear from you all. Here's to much more to come!
Until next time,
Dave

Project Update: Weekend Update 4: The Final 48!
Hi all,
A quick one this weekend to say thanks for coming on this ride. Awaiting the Burning Gods has already been Magnum Galaxy Games' biggest campaign yet and it is all thanks to your support. Now that we are in the final 48 the push is on to unlock the bonus smuggler's guide zine for every physical pledge. I'm really hoping we crush this one and I think we've got a good shot!
Now, a few fun things.

MORE ART!
Daniel keeps on hitting them out of the park. Most recently with this killer banner piece for the crashed dropship from Survey Party A. Search the wreckage; think anyone... or anything survived?
New Smuggler's Guide Content
This past weekend, I wrapped up the Alternate Start Scenarios section of The Smuggler’s Guide to 1365. Each scenario reimagines a classic Magnum Galaxy Games module as a black-market smuggling mission, offering fresh win conditions, new player goals, and access to rarely-seen content in the original adventures. I had a lot of fun with these, thinking carefully how things would change if these were off-the-books rather than straight jobs from the company itself.
*SPOILER ALERT (skip this paragraph to avoid)*
For example, the alternate start for The Cleaning of Prison Station Echo has your crew landing after the riot of the X187 infected prisoners. The prison has gone dark, the hallways vented of atmosphere, and the Xerocorp cleaning team is sweeping the halls shooting to kill any survivors who've managed to find themselves some oxygen and a warm place to hold out. Within this mess, your crew needs to extract a corporate VIP mole in hiding on the station. This reimagining promises a whole new way to approach the adventure and should be a ton of fun whether or not you've played the adventure before or its your first time. I can’t wait for you all to give them a spin!

Crossing the Finish Line
Alright, that's all for this week. Next time you hear from me we'll be on the other side of the campaign. Here's to making the final hours count and pushing us over the edge to unlock the Smuggler's Guide. Together, we can do it!
Thanks again for everything. Until next time, yours truly,

Project Update: Weekend Update #3: More Art, New Add-Ons, and Project Updates
Hi Everyone,
Quick check-in this week to keep you in the loop on behind the scenes happenings with Awaiting the Burning Gods.
Quick check-in this week to keep you in the loop on behind the scenes happenings with Awaiting the Burning Gods.
Lets Start with some New Art!
The hits keep coming as Daniel is working through the many art pieces I've commissioned to bring the creatures and landscapes of Ma'at to life. This week I've got our first NPC feature - the no-nonsense leader of the Landis University research team, Dr. Sylvia Dehavilland. Plus, who is that sneaking up behind her? I'm sure it's nothing right? Right?
New Add-Ons
By request I've added a few more items to the add-ons section. Now you can add additional copies of the Awaiting the Burning Gods zine in case you want one for a friend, for your players, or to keep on the shelf while your other copy takes a beating at the table. I won't judge! ;-). I've also made copies of the Dying Hard on Hardlight Station prequel pamphlet adventure, The Horror on Tau Sigma 7, available too. It's a tight one-shot that works great as a lead in for further adventures in Nakatomi Sector 1365 or as a tight stand alone scenario to introduce new players to the world of Mothership.
Project Update
We're slowly but surely edging our way toward the Smuggler's Guide bonus zine stretch goal. While the campaign continues DAI, Daniel and I have been hard at work. You've seen some of Daniel's work already. Meanwhile I've been focused on drafting out the job board for the smuggler's guide. It's a lot of fun and I'm putting extra attention into it since it is the most popular part of the book based on the poll so many of completed. I've been planning out the audio aids as well and even made a few small tweaks to the book itself; creatin more opportunities for PCs to encounter the audio logs left behind by Landing Party A in their search for survivors among the ruins.
While I've been working on that, DAI has been laying out the text of the zine itself. Even with the Smuggler's Guide content separated out into its own book we're looking at around 32-36 pages for just the Awaiting the Burning Gods adventure alone. Awesome!

Alright, that's a wrap for this week. Questions, comments, hellos? Reach out in the comments below - I'm happy to answer anything you'd like to know about the zine and the production process. The home stretch of the campaign approaches! Thanks for being a part of this ride so far, can't wait for what comes next.
All the best,
Dave
