What People are Saying about The International Player's Review

What's in the Annual?

Spreads from the Science Fiction Special Issue

Totalling over 100 pages across four issues, every spread is a portal to a lost world of retro gaming. This collection of the first year of The International Player's Review includes tons of rad content, including:
  • Unruly tables and chaotic generators for old school and modern games.
  • Interviews with creators who've shaped our hobby both then and now.
  • A slew of adventures, lite on word count, big on action.
  • Complete TTRPG rule sets. Including the heist caper RPG, Easy Money, and the wildly historically inaccurate caveman simulator, Year One Hundred Million BC
  • The debut of the sci-fi issue, only available during this campaign.
  • Plus hand drawn comics, pure pulp stories, and so much more!

What is the International Player's Review?

The International Player’s Review is a tabletop role-playing zine inspired by the early days of the hobby. Think Dragon Magazine, White Dwarf, and the first wave of DIY fanzines packed with wild ideas, odd tables, offbeat articles and of course, the occasional furious letter.

Each issue follows in that tradition, offering short useful pieces you can use for inspiration or drop straight into your campaign. Random generators, interviews, strange locations, and small systems. All system-neutral and easy to adapt to your favourite old-school game.

The magazine is designed to look and feel like a lost zine from the late 70s, featuring a layout with rough edges and a big personality. It leans knee deep into the charm of old hobby publications while keeping the text clean and easy to read.
