Hey Folks,

We just send emails out with the first Draw Steel Quest to backers and patrons. It usually takes a few hours for all the data to move around and hit inboxes, so please be patient.

The Dark Heart of the Wood is a 2nd-level Draw Steel quest for 3–6 heroes. This quest is intended to be a one to two session, monster-of-the-week–style adventure: a memorable, early stepping-stone in the heroes’ career. Heroes can expect to earn 4–7 victories across the course of the quest.

The village of Byre dies. Drought brings famine and no one's seen a merchant or carter in weeks. “Carts don’t make it out the other end anymore,” they say. None of them know why, but the heroes may soon find out once they face off with the thorns of the terrible Threxyls!

Welcome to 2026 folks! I hope y'all got to take some time off over the holidays.

Crack the Sun wrapped with over $2.6m dollars and almost 10,000 backers!! That seems extraordinary to me. I think we're all very optimistic about the future. I have no idea when the next Draw Steel crowdfunder will be, and no idea what might be in it, but it seems obvious to me that by this time next year, say, there'll be LOTS more Draw Steel players! We're seeing tons of sales on our store, the Codex player base is up, and everything just seems amazing.

Thanks to everyone who backed, who followed, who talked about the campaign online and with their friends. I think MCDM has the best community in gaming and that's thanks to you awesome people!

We have nothing else to report right now except; we're all hard at work on all the products you folks backed! I thought you'd like to see some of the new art coming in.

This is a new piece for Crack the Sun by friend of the company Justin Cherry, the only person I know in real life who's art was featured on a cover of Heavy Metal magazine!

Also I thought you folks would like to see the Gol explorations Grace has been noodling on. This is work-in-progress, not final. This is for the upcoming ancestry book, Between Sun & Shadow.

I think this is AMAZING, cannot wait to meet these folks in the book. One thing I like is the lack of sexual dimorphism. If anything, the female seems a little beefier to me than the male! Though that might just be her hat thing. :D
