Project FAQ
Every time we unlock a stretch goal, every backer gets a new sticker. So if this campaign unlocks six goals, everyone gets all six stickers! (And if we unlock 12 goals, it’s 12 stickers each. 28 goals? 28 stickers—you get the idea.) So you don’t have to choose—you get them all. You don’t have to do anything to claim them. They’ll be added to your rewards automatically. We’ll ship them with other rewards, so don't anticipate they'll increase your shipping cost. (If you’re backing at a digital-only level, you'll have to pay for shipping at the time the stickers fulfill. Or, if you don't want to pay shipping and only want to receive digital rewards, you can simply choose not to claim them.) For backers who want extras, we may offer the entire set as an add-on in the pledge manager.
If you don't see a pledge level that has exactly what you want, simply pick a pledge level that comes closest without including things you don't want. You'll be able to add additional items in the pledge manager after the campaign closes. The pledge manager may include some items that aren't currently available as add-ons, such as extra copies of individual books.
We made A Guest for Mr. Spider through the original crowdfunding campaign, in 2023, that funded the corebook for The Magnus Archives Roleplaying Game. It was a limited edition item made specifically for backers of that campaign. We do not have enough extra copies to make it available now, and because it was a limited edition, we have no plans to reprint it at this time. Whenever we make limited-edition items, we always make a few more than we need—you never know if a case or three might get lost, or hit by a forklift in the warehouse, or whatever. Sometimes, once we're sure all the backers have received their copies, we may sell these extras at a convention, or during a special sale on our web store. It's possible a small number of copies of A Guest for Mr. Spider may become available through such opportunities in the future. (Or that may never happen.) Follow us online, or visit us at Gen Con or similar major shows, to see if such a chance arises. Outside of such limited circumstances, we simply don't have enough copies to make A Guest for Mr. Spider available. Make sure you grab a copy of DIG through this campaign!
The Magnus Archives Roleplaying Game corebook contains everything you need to play, other than some standard gaming supplies: pencils, maybe some scratch paper or a notebook, and some gaming dice (in particular, the Cypher System uses a d20, a d6, and percentile dice). This corebook is included, in PDF, with every pledge level. (And it's free—the pledge level pricing isn't inflated to include that PDF.) If you prefer your books in print, there's an add-on that upgrades your PDF to a print-and-PDF combo—and gives you a great price! Since it's an item that already exists, it will be delivered before the new items. Or you can order it right now via the MCG Shop: www.montecookgames.com/store The other items offered through this campaign--the new books, Enter the Archives, the new Prop Set 2, and so on—are extras that add to the immersion of the experience and make running and organizing your adventures and characters that much faster and easier.
Your patch will be automatically added to your rewards. You don't need to do anything to make that happen. You'll get it with other rewards when they fulfill. This is true for all pledge levels, even those with PDF-only rewards. You'll have to pay for shipping at the time the patch fulfills. Or, if you don't want to pay shipping and only want digital rewards, you can simply choose not to claim that reward.
We’re making some cool things for this campaign, and we appreciate your interest in our non-game add-ons. While we don't have plans to include an add-on only pledge level, many of the items we're making will be available for retail purchase upon their release. (Those marked Limited Edition are likely to only be available through this campaign.) If you're keen not to wait (or to get limited-edition items), our cheapest pledge level is just $20. From there you can add as many add-ons if you like—and you get roughly $50 worth of great RPG materials that come with that pledge level. If that's still too high a price to pay to access the add-ons, we're sorry—but the RPG items are what we're here to fund.
We intend to make late pledges available following the campaign, and backers will be able to upgrade their pledges, and add add-ons, in the pledge manager. As always, to absolutely ensure you don’t miss out, our advice is to back the campaign even if it’s at a lower level than you want. This will ensure that you’re in the pledge manager, where you can make upgrades if you like, after the campaign closes.
The key titles offered through this campaign—Make Your Statement, Face Your Fears, and Do Not Enter—will be available through the MCG Shop, finer game stores, and other places you buy TTRPG products. Some of the other items (such as the Prop Set) will probably be available through the MCG Shop, but not in stores. And a few (DIG, for example) are limited-edition items made just for this campaign, and will probably not be available at any other time. We can't provide a definitive answer for every item, so if there are items you want beyond the primary books, your best bet is to pledge for them—particularly since the deals offered through these pledge levels are fantastic!
We intend to keep the pledge manager open for at least a few months after the campaign closes.
Check the Timeline section of the main campaign page for info on when we expect to ship rewards. And be sure to read the Shipping section of the main campaign page. There’s a link there to a detailed description of our fulfillment process.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
