How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
Why should I back the campaign now?
Once the campaign closes, the introductory pricing here will no longer be available. If you want the absolute lowest price and best deal on this assortment of minis, you'll want to pledge before the campaign ends.
Are these STL files? Will you make STL files available?
This project is for physical miniatures. At this time we are not offering STL files for this campaign.
Where are the miniatures being produced?
All of the miniatures are being produced by us at our two facilities in the USA.
Do the miniatures come pre-assembled?
Most of the minis will be a single piece that will not require assembly (bases are separate, see renders on the campaign page for accurate depiction). Due to the practicalities of injection molding, some minis will be in two or more parts. These can be assembled using super glue (cyanoacrylate). The parts will only fit one way and will not require instructions. Some minimal preparation may be required.
Are bases included?
Yes, each mini will come with an appropriately sized round black plastic base. The bases are sized 25mm, 50mm, 75mm and are ~3mm tall. The base is not part of the miniature and will need to be attached using super glue (cyanoacrylate).
Do I need to prime the minis before painting?
No, you can paint directly on them with acrylic paint. Although you can use primer if you wish (even spray primer is OK to use).
What is the expected delivery date for this campaign?
To be honest, that all depends on how well successful the campaign ends up. The more backers on the project, the longer it will take to produce the minis, pack them and ship. However, our last two campaigns have been delivered 6 months earlier than we originally estimated, so you can be sure we're going to work as quickly as we can to get these minis into your hands!
Will there be a pledge manager?
Yes, we will have a pledge manager available here on Backerkit. The pledge manager will open approximately 2-3 weeks after the campaign ends.
How do I pledge for an add-on?
There are two ways to do so. First, you can include add-ons as part of your pledge as you proceed through the pledge process. We have a bunch of add-ons available which you can view when selecting your pledge options before finalizing your pledge. Alternatively, if you aren't 100% sure of which add-ons you'd like to get, you can add the dollar amount of the add-ons you expect to want to your pledge total. You will be credited your full pledge amount in the pledge manager after the campaign to allocate towards any add-ons you wish to purchase there.
Can I purchase more than one copy of a pledge?
Yes, additional pledges will be available in the pledge manager after the campaign ends. If you add additional funds to your initial pledge those funds will be credited to you in the pledge manager to allocate towards any add-ons or additional pledges offered there.
Can I purchase additional copies of any of the miniatures included in the campaign?
We will have a la carte purchasing options for all Dragon's Hoard Remastered miniatures, including stretch goals and the Red Dragon available in the pledge manager.
Does a $1 pledge get me access to the pledge manager?
You will need to back the campaign at the Pledge Manager Access level ($5) to get access to the pledge manager and the campaign exclusive pricing after the campaign ends.
Will there be a retailer pledge level?
No, we do not plan to offer one for this campaign. If you are a retailer, please message us directly with inquiries.
What is the scale of your miniatures?
28mm scale. If you are familiar with the WizKids D&D line of miniatures scaling, these miniatures are comparably sized.
Are the sizes of the miniatures being listed anywhere?
Yes, we have a Google sheet that is linked on the campaign page which details the height (mm) of all revealed and unlocked models and the size base it will come with.
