Back in 2020 I was inspired to create a project based on extinct and endangered animals; something that I had had a huge passion for and still do. During that time a white rhino baby had been born, while several other animals were declared functionally extinct and I was having trouble processing my thoughts. At that time the oldest animal I had designed was the smilodon, everything else was a rather contemporary animal that we had photos and videos of.
The next time around I would go further back and only designed extinct animals from the ice age to the dinosaur era. That project propelled me into doing this full time, with a patreon and people who would come to meet me in person to talk about cool art, animals and our favorites, as well as a lot of conservation talk. My third project mixed everything together, animals and dinos, new and old, big and small, and after about four years in..
..I got cancer. An amazing way to celebrate how far we came with these pins, my art and everything I've gotten to do. All of my traveling across half the United States, all the shows and museums I'd gotten to go to, everything stopped. For that time I was really scared, I had a bad prognosis; but with the team I had, I actually made it through and I over a year out from treatment now. Last fall was the official 5th year of launching the first Disappear project, but I wanted to make sure I was in a good enough place to be able to run a project at all. I have an amazing support system at home and I think it's time to celebrate!
I am OnionCakes/ Carissa; an enamel pin artist who has been working with pins as an art form for over 13 years. I have designed over 500 pins for various clients all over the world and am well versed in vector design and illustration. I also dabble in children's books and art courses from time to time. This is my 8th crowdfunding project! I am apart of a small art studio called The Scribbles Art Collective here in soCal with some of the best people and artists I've ever met.
All of my previous crowdfunding projects for Disappear have worked like this:
I like to do two tiers of animals and a mini pin and then a tier of additional colors for those pins. This way everyone gets something in a color they like or vibe with with lots of different little additions if possible. There will of corse be a few tiers with other things to unlock but that's how it works for the most part.
There are three types of pins: Mini Pins: 1.5 and smaller. Regular Pins: The majority of the animals are in this category! All REGULAR pins will be 2" - 2.5" Jumbo Pins: These big bad boys will generally be 4" or more and will cost a little bit more over all.
The minis will have 4 styles they can be unlocked in (unless otherwise specified):
The everything else will have 2 base colors to start with, one in hard enamel and one in soft enamel. (soft enamel example pin from previous disappear series)
