No prompts included It's so important to support real artists these days, and with that in mind I wanted to share some of the process behind the character at the front of Rinn's campaign. Mirra, the red squirrel.
I remember sending on the first details of Mirra to Ste Topley. Something along the lines of “an infamous, sword-for-hire. Grumpy, gruff, and armour-clad. Red squirrel”. In no time at all Ste came back to me with an initial sketch, which I absolutely loved. He began to work in some more detail from here.
Early sketches
After some back and forth (and a conversation about the actual length of squirrel arms) Ste settled on what would become the final pose, and moved from pencils to digital.
From pencils to pixels
From here it was into the detail, and I must admit I love the chainmail, buckles, scars, all the small elements that bring Mirra to life (that tail!). It was a real privilege to collaborate with Ste and watch his process in action. The final artwork set the tone for the character art throughout Rinn, and really brought my words to life.
With just a few days remaining in the campaign I again just want to thank you all for your support, and I can't wait to bring my Mausritter realm into the human realm and share it with you!
