A few years ago my children started drawing monsters in their spare time. And where there are monster drawings, we add monster stats!
A Bestiary of Children's Nightmares is a 36 page digest-sized zine of monsters for DCC RPG. All the creatures were drawn by three of my children. I then added stats (sometimes in consultation with the kids) to bring more monstrous goodness to your gaming table!
Over 20 new creatures, abominations, and monstrosities for your DCC RPG campaign, including the nix (fey insects that grant their companions luck), the loncrus (a soul-devouring demon), the unicorpse (dispirited undead unicorns), and the cave clinger (a pale subterranean stalker).
All backers in the first 48 hours will receive a free PDF sidequest adventure. Tomb of the Elder Saint can be integrated into a longer campaign or used as a short one-shot. The 2-page PDF includes a new monster and artifact.
The zine is about 85% complete right now. Once the campaign ends and funds are deposited I'll do a final editing run, send out the surveys, and then send the PDF (anticipated by late September). Then the files will be sent to the printers; once those are received physical copies will be sent out in the mail (anticipated by the end of the year).
Base postage is currently estimated to be $7 within the United States. International shipping will be available to Canada, Mexico, the UK, and Ireland for an estimated $25. These costs are just guesses and are subject to change.
Jonathan Sullivan has been playing roleplaying games since middle school. A few years ago he was introduced to Dungeon Crawl Classics and has counted himself among its merry band of reavers ever since. His DCC publications include The Gongfarmer Militia (a zine expanding the rules for hirelings) and A Fairly Odd Tale (a fairy tale-based module). He's also written for the Dare Luck Club RPG, Trophy Gold, and Old School Essentials.
Jonathan is joined on this project by three of his children. In addition to drawing monsters they've recently been bitten by the role-playing bug and can be regularly found around the kitchen table rolling dice and talking smack.
