Project FAQ
Yes. 1. It's a work of art. So pretty! 2. This book includes the goodies from Crafting Personalised Feats 3. The past three years have taught me a lot! I decided to write it down to help you out! 4. I've updated this to the state of the art for A5e and other games 5. I'm including the absolute raw bleeding edge of game design for this in here as well and I'm excited to do so. With a cleaner easier to read layout and categorisation, this revisiting will be a delight for the eyes and be a definitive reference manual going into 2025 and beyond.
The current plan is that the PDFs will be released to all backers as soon as pledges stop coming in on the 3rd of March. I will then order a print copy from DrivethruRPG.com. This will be in the form of a download code from DrivethruRPG.com sent via Backerkit. There will then be a week or so's grace (whilst we wait for Stripe and Backerkit to collect pledges and pay me) and then I'll put in the print order. Any problems that get picked up will be edited into the book and depending on the number of changes a further proof may be needed, but once I'm sure it's something I'm proud to send to you, then I'll get that book to you! It's printed and delivered by DrivethruRPG.com
I would never! Can't be having with beer. :D But this is my fifth book, it's going to be, somehow, my prettiest and if I don't get it out and delivered to you in a timely fashion I won't be able to brag about how clever it is/I am/you are for backing it. To put it in game terms, my Pride motivation is so great that I can't not deliver. I've also made most of the mistakes that one could make on previous kickstarters and people have been very nice about this, and again, try not to make the same mistake twice. :D
No. That would impede me from my mission of getting this book to you as quickly as humanly possible. If we do start looking at excess profits then I will be sharing those out amongst people who have worked on the book, including the layout and cover design, the copy and proof editor and the other writers. In a very serious and real way, your support makes a massive difference to me and to these people because the funds let us keep on creating awesome things at a time when powerful forces seek to erase the human element from creativity.
Absolutely not. None of the artwork is AI to the best of my knowledge and satisfaction. A lot of it predates 2022 The rest is unique and idiosyncratic and produced by artists with very solid professional reputations. If I put AI in the writing, well, that would be giving you the most statistically probably set of words and that is just not what I came here to do. I came here to help you unleash your creativity, to unchain your inner voice and to sing a world of beauty and wonder into creation. Can't do that with a slurrification device! I'm doing this the old-fashioned way: with a laptop, cloud shared collaborative documents, using crowdfunding via electronic payments via a world wide information network. Real artisanal, yo. ;)
Hey, I'd love to. But they'd have to return my emails. ;) I do TTRPG design and making games feel like they're exciting and fun. A computer is a tool to help me do that. The skills required to get things onto those platforms are beyond me. With a quote, I can price those things in, but us micro-creators are pretty much shut out unless we know how to do it ourselves. Sorry! Out of my control!
Tales of the Valiant replaced inspiration with a different system. A small number of traits interact with inspiration. They won't be compatible. They'll also be tagged but it's going to be pretty obvious which are which. If it says "inspiration" in the mechanics, it's not compatible. The rest is very easily compatible and only changes your points budget.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
