Project Update: FULFILLMENT UPDATE #2: ELECTRIC BARMANOU

Hello and happy new year to all our airwave and ahool aficionados alike!

We just finished rehoming all the Wampus cats who were living in our printers, which means we’re able to officially lock in our timelines to get The CryptID Show to all our wonderful backers!

At present, we are confident everyone will be receiving their books, bumper stickers, and various other sundry rewards by mid-February. To facilitate this, we’ll be sending out the Backer Survey early next week, so please be sure you fill that out ASAP so we can make sure this cryptid care package is arriving at the right address! For backers who supported us at the Ghost in the Machine level, your survey will include information on where we’ll be collecting your voice recordings for our companion website.

Thank you again to all our backers for your incredible support and patience as we Loch-ed in our timelines,

Anica & Plus One Experience

Project Update: A SLIGHT DETOUR THROUGH THE WOODS (FULFILLMENT UPDATE!)

Howdy, cultured callers and cryptid connoisseurs alike!

First off: if you stopped by the Plus One Exp booth at PAX Unplugged this weekend–thank you. Seriously. Whether you came to say hi, snag a game or three, or share your cousin’s definitely real Michigan Dogman sighting, our team had an absolute blast hearing about what you’re playing and offering some truly rad new games for you to check out. Our hearts are fuller than Loch Ness (Nessie displaces a lot of water, to be fair).

Now…let’s get to the update.

Our fulfillment is slightly delayed, with a new target of early January.

No catastrophes, nothing is cursed, no one needs to frantically whittle a new Bigfoot call. We’ve just run into some good old-fashioned manufacturing delays. The kind where printers and production schedules do that classic cryptid move: they exist, you can feel them nearby, but they refuse to show themselves when you need them. So while the fulfillment date remains elusive, rest assured that the game is coming together beautifully, and we’ll be ready to bring you the incredible cryptid crafting experience you deserve, first thing in the new year.

We’re continuing to stay in close contact with our manufacturers, and will send out a Bigfoot-sized blast once we have a more specific timeline ready to share.

In the meantime, thank you for your patience, your hype, and your steadfast belief in the weird.

Keep your eyes on the treeline and your radios tuned to the uncanny,
Anica & Plus One Experience

Project Update: A BIGFOOT-SIZED THANK YOU!

And with a final, triumphant howl of the Michigan Dogman, our BackerKit campaign for The CryptID Show has drawn to a close. To all you true Bigfoot believers (and Squonk skeptics, doppelgänger doubters and everyone in between), thank you! We managed to raise $11,146, blowing our original goal of $2,500 out of the water. With the incredible support of our 263 backers, we unlocked all our stretch goals, including fantastic cryptid-crafting guest writers, bonus book art, a companion website with extended prompts and soundboards, and even a fund to help financially support other indie TTRPG designers! Our gratitude for your support could fill even the deepest, Nessie-dwelling parts of Loch Ness.

In terms of what comes next, with the additional art being added to the book, we have a little bit more layout work than we accounted for with our original fulfillment date. Beyond that, while we’re lucky to already be set up with US-based printers, we’re nevertheless seeing some delays there due to the influx of publishers looking to switch to stateside vendors. While we’re still aiming to have The CryptID Show available for pickup at PAX Unplugged (November 21st-23rd) and ready to ship out December 10th, we will make sure we’re staying in contact and providing updates in case that timeline changes at all!

And finally, a personal note from me:

I really cannot begin to express my gratitude for everyone who backed, shared, and otherwise supported this game. Creating something that’s a little bit silly, a little bit spooky, and a lot o’ bit a framework for people to customize their own cryptid sightings and broadcast formats has been such a fun project to throw myself into, and seeing everyone get on board with it has meant the world to me. Whenever things get to be a bit too much, my go-to comfort watch is old episodes of Scooby-Doo, and The CryptID Show is my version of that: a place where hijinks abound, monsters aren’t too monstrous, and problems get solved after at least two commercial breaks. Thanks y’all, can’t wait to see the cryptids you create.

Project Update: THE END IS NEIGH!!!!!! The Last Day of The Cryptid Show!

Who let the Doom Horse in here?!?

Anyway, it’s our last day of funding here on and it’s been a wild ride. All stretch goals unlocked.

More prompts, more art, a website, a creative grant & some secrets we haven’t told you yet! Also our good friends over Party of One played the show and dropped the episode yesterday! Listen here!

We would be thrilled to get over 250 backers and it looks like we are on track for that.

If you haven’t called in yet and pledged your support, today is the day!

Also, a shout to some of our friends with ongoing projects!

There is Black Flies by Jordan Dube. Backing both games gives you extra content for each!

Danse Macabre: Medieval Horror Roleplaying. By our friends at Stillfleet.
An easy-to-learn, old-school-inspired but ultimately hopeful TTRPG, players are Pilgrims trying to survive a mutant-zombie apocalypse. With a Souls-like play loop, death rewards players with powerful maleficia (mutations) of their own—up to a point.

Plus—the art is absolutely sick, based entirely on historical references, and #HumanMade!

Back it by clicking here

However, we are so excited to get the game into your hands.
Just like Hellwhalers, and BlackFlies this will turn around as quick as possible!

We are just waiting on final art & layout before we send this to print, and hope to have it available for pick up at PaxU for those coming into town, if we can.

Talk soon, callers!

Project Update: More! Cryptid! Art! And a CryptID Show Website??

Y’all have been smashing through our stretch goals for new writers, so we’ve got a few more extras to spice up your CryptID Show games and to round out our last week on Backerkit!

At our new $7,500 stretch goal, every copy of The CryptID Show will get even more abominable animals, beautiful scenes with Hosts and Callers and even a conspiracy board caper or two courtesy of Randy Milholland! We’re so close to having even more to offer backers at every level, we can definitely make it happen.

And at our new $8,500 stretch goal, The CryptID Show is going digital with a companion website, letting you get even more prompts for your game with just a single click (maybe two). Get into the morning zoo spirit with your own sound board to match! All our Ghost in the Machine backers will also have their recorded messages available for use on this world wide website as well.

Finally, at our $10,000 stretch goal, we'll be able to use extra funds to support other indie game designers to make their own games like The CryptID Show, with what we're calling The CryptID Foundation. We'd love to make this happen and make even more weird, experimental games possible!

More Projects To Pour Over:

Black Flies just funded over the weekend, thank you to everyone who's backed both games! There's still a few more days to go if you're looking to grab crossover bonuses and to help them reach their own stretch goal for even more art.

And Ambition is live on Gamefound, and nearly funded at the time of writing, you could be the person that gets it there! This tales & tactics Daoist TTRPG is great for storytellers who love the mystical possibilities of The CryptID Show and want to lean into that with their play. REACH FOR HEAVEN FROM UNDERNEATH.

Also, while we're here, have you heard about the folks at StoryQuest's new actual play they did of The CryptID Show? Now you have! Check out the full VOD here, or this little snippet of a short if your attention span is also ruined.
