Halloween Hijinks will only shipped to the United States.
With our previous crowdfunding experience, we are confident that backers can expect their copy late 2026 to early 2027.
Halloween Hijinks can be played with two to five players. The two player variation removes dad's bowl as a timer but remains otherwise the same.
Yes! The spider module does not require any reading and provides a good opportunity to practice counting.
Yes! The trunk or treat module introduces new card drafting aspects and more complicated treat cards. Adults will find it challenging and engaging.
Halloween Hijinks will be discounted from $40 to $30 for the first two days of the campaign.
Mostly. We may make a few adjustments for better visibility and readability on some pieces. Otherwise, the game will look like the images included in the campaign.
No. Halloween Hijinks' main game mechanics include swapping candy with opponents and secretly assigning candy values at the beginning of the game. Without these elements, the game would lose most of its flavor.
While our vision for Halloween Hijinks included teaching children that objects have different value to different people and you don't always know what your neighbor values, you are welcome to randomly assign your candy values or play with them displayed.
Check out this helpful link: https://help.backerkit.com/category/966-new-to-backerkit Overall, you can expect monthly updates on things like manufacturing and shipping. The timeline is an estimate, some projects run into unexpected difficulties.
Absolutely! Here is our latest copy of the rulebook: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1l_VwLuzxevVjx68LbFZRS-PPwrwAF0QP?usp=drive_link There may be some adjustments for clarity but the rules will not change before you receive your copy.
That depends on the number of players and which modules you choose to play with. For a two-player game and only the spider module, Halloween Hijinks takes about 20 minutes to play. With all of the modules and five players, Halloween Hijinks takes about an hour to play.
That depends on the modules chosen to play with: Spider module ~ 5 minutes Ghost module ~ 10 minutes Grandma's purse ~ 15 minutes Trunk or Treat ~ 20 minutes
The rulebook is 12 pages long, split into sections for each module. You only need to read the pages pertaining to the modules that you choose to play with. The entire rulebook takes an adult about 10 minutes to read.
A modular board game is a game that allows you to pick and choose which elements that you want to play with and which ones you want to leave out. With Halloween Hijinks, players can choose to play various combinations of the four modules and the haunted die. Players always use the spider module. If players to choose to play with more modules, they will play with the ghost module and can choose to play with grandma's bag and/or trunk or treat. The haunted die can be used with any module combination.
The haunted die is an add-on to Halloween Hijinks. It is used to level the playing field between players of differing skill levels. The haunted die replaces one action each turn for any player that is haunted. The haunted player has to work against the haunted die while also competing with other players. The haunted die rolls are: eat a candy, swap a candy with another player, draw a candy card, swap a candy with dad's bowl or the discard pile, nothing happens, and draw a candy card. Since the player must always complete the action rolled, if able, the die roll may not be favorable for the player.
With the various modules of Halloween Hijinks, parents can play it with children of various ages. As the child grows, parents can include new modules for added difficulty and to teach new gaming concepts.
Halloween Hijinks is very low competition. Because the candy values are hidden at the beginning of the game, players cannot tell who is winning throughout the game. This helps children not feel defeated easily. No one knows who is winning the game until the very end of the game when points are scored.
The Halloween Hijinks campaign may be the only way to get a copy of the game. Our oldest daughter is going to college and we may not have time to travel to many conventions next year. Also, we do not have any plans to release it in a retail environment. Also, this campaign is the only way to get the "Licorice the Cat" enamel pin. We will not sell any pins after the campaign ends.
This is an extremely limited opportunity for backers to become part of the game. By backing this add-on, the backer will send us a photo of them (or someone they know) in an unlicensed costume. Our wonderful artist will cartoonize them so they can be added to one of the trunk or treat cards. The backer will forever be immortalized in every copy of Halloween Hijinks, granting exclusive and eternal bragging rights.
There is absolutely no AI anywhere in Halloween Hijinks or this campaign. We firmly believe in supporting artists and graphic designers. Thank you Cat and Ella!!!
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
