Project Update: One Month On
Hey everyone
So Transgender Deathmatch Legend II funded on November 28th. The money hit my account earlier this month. The text should be back from the editor in early January and I'll finish up layout then. In the meantime I'll also place orders for the box components.
I'd predict digital release either the last week of January or early February. Then physical fulfilment comes afterwards which will just be managed by me.

Hot Rising Talents
The number displayed for how much the campaign made is £3000, which was the target of the games first stretch goal; a zine of playable characters called Hot Rising Talents that would be added into the box set.
The number displayed isn't actually the funding we reached. I don't mean in terms of BackerKit or stripe fees, that was factored into the goal. But between failed pledges and refunds due to the late EU GSPR situation the actual amount we funded was closer to £2690 before fees.
It's no feasible for me to print the zine and include it in box sets with the actual money that was made. Because the art was still commissioned I'll still produce the zine, but as a print-at-home add on to the digital release. I'm sorry to everyone disappointed by this news, it's not the situation I was personally hoping for.

Next Update
The next update will come in January, likely once layout is underway and I'll have some more previews to share at the time.
In the meantime I released a new zine (that was finished before the campaign started, but held back until now). Nemesis Retribution is a game of dark counterparts and twisted mirror images. As a group take a hero, create their perfect rival and then set them on a collision course! It's designed for 2-6 players, including a GM, perfect for one-shots with rules for going longer. Find it on Itch now.

PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: Urgent Update for EU Backers
Hello
I have an unfortunate update for any backers within the EU. On December 13th the General Product Safety Regulation goes into effect. There are multiple requirements to comply with be able to sell products to the EU., one of which is I'd need to have an authorised representative within the EU. I don't have the resources or funds to be able to comply with the regulation and as such I'm not going to be able to sell products to the EU.
I've altered the campaign so physical pledges are no longer available to backers from EU countries. If you've already backed the project and are within the EU I'd need you to adjust your pledge to a digital level (or to cancel your pledge). If you don't you might be charged and would need to reach out for a refund after the campaign. I'd really appreciate people making any adjustments they need to so I have a clear picture of how this affects the current level of funding.
I really wish I had better news on this front but I can't see any other practical solution at this moment in time.

Project Update: One Week Left!
Hey everyone!
Transgender Deathmatch Legend II has one week left on BackerKit! We're chasing the stretch goal for the Hot Rising Talents zine, featuring twelve unique playable characters with art by Hodag RPG. Further stretch goals would add some of my favourite writers in TTRPGs to the zine team. Only one week left though, so if you want to expand the boxset contents and give yourself a chance to add-on the zine to your order for other pledges please do spread the word.
There's not much planned on my end for the last week at this moment in time. I'll be appearing on EN World's Not DND Podcast talking about my last release PSYCHODUNGEON, and I'll likely also talk a bit about TDL2 but it's not the focus of the interview.
Getting people to know about the campaign while there's still time could be a massive difference maker. I'm talking about the game on the platforms I'm on and the discords I'm in, but I'm not everywhere. I'm no longer on Twitter (I deactivated my account in the early stage of crowdfunding hysteria but I've found that good enough for me I thinks it permanent), I've never been on Reddit or Facebook and a woman does have a limit for how many discords she can be in. If you're in a space where you think people would like to know about Transgender Deathmatch Legend II do them (and me) a favour and tell them about the game.
So what happens after the 28th? How much work there is post-campaign is slightly dependant on where things end. The core book text is with the editor and I can start drafting layout pretty imminently. If we hit the HRT zine stretch goal though I'll also have to do writing (and hopefully working with other writers) for that as well as it's layout first. There's then ordering all the boxset components, getting stuff printed and assembled before physical fulfillment can start.
After the campaign I'm going to be at Dragonmeet on Nov 30th, TAGS Festival on December 7th and I believe I'll be at Rift Faire in London on the 15th. Between those I'll likely need to spend time recovering due to the strain conventions out on me as a disabled person. It's also Christmas around that time and I have some personal finance deadlines. A digital release in December is very possible. That could facilitate a physical release in January but also the pace might need to go slower depending on things. I'll do my best to update everyone when things firm up more clearly (after the campaign ends I'll at the very least have a super clear picture on how much work there is for me.)
Anyway that's it for me with this update (and hey if you're at any of the cons I just mentioned feel free to come and say hi!)

Project Update: Transgender Deathmatch Legend II Funded! Hot Rising Talents! Lemme talk to you!
We've funded! (We actually funded earlier in the week and then "unfunded" which I have never seen happen before). That means everyone is going to get what they've pledged for!
There are multiple stretch goals for the campaign. The first goal, at £3000, will fund the development of a supplemental zine called Hot Rising Talents. The scene will be a roster of playable characters for Transgender Deathmatch Legend II, illustrated by Hodag RPG and written by me and (funding depending) some very exciting guest writers from across the TTRPG scene. If the goal is hit the zine will be added to the Box Set pledge and be available as an Add-On for all other pledge levels.
The zine is going to black and white DL. Here's a preview of the cover:
And here's a preview for one of our titular Hot Rising Talents: "Classy" Cassie Arkady!

Shoot Name: Kate
Fighting Style: Brawling
Finishing Move: Pure Pedigree (Stalling Double Underhook Facebuster)
"Classy" Cassie Arkady was given a "posh" gimmick as a joke. She actually got good at it though, the upper class mean girl gimmick was a heat magnet and she managed to add some layers to her gimmick by dropping the fake accent in particularly person fueds. She wrestles as a brawler, though she had a technical background. She made that switch for a contrast to her gimmick and it works well for her. Audiences love to hate her, sometimes even just love to love her, she should a bigger star really. So, why isn't she?
Cassie has crashed out of at least six promotions owing to bad break-ups with wrestler in management. Peoples usual response to hearing the gossip was a simple "Classy." That's where the gimmick came from.
Her messy dating life isn't intended as social climbing, and it needs probably has the opposite effect. Management often regard her as a bad influence, while locker rooms think she's got ulterior motives. Honestly, she just follows her heart more than her head. Maybe she finds her head unreliable after how often she smashes it into opponents skulls?
There's 17 days left on the campaign and being completely honest I've been frustrated by how it's been going. I think visibility has really suffered from BackerKit requiring the page be 18+ though there are probably things I could have done differently. Looking at the data it seems the biggest problem the project is facing is just getting seen full stop. I'd like to put hope in the fact that now we're funded maybe things will be smoother, but we'll see how things play out. Word of mouth is still the only tool I have, but things aren't over yet.
I guested on this week's Talk of the Table to talk about the book and the campaign. Sitting down with Brian and Elliot was a delight and we dug into what makes the game tick, the thematic richness of the game and why the game is so specific. You can listen to the episode wherever you get your podcasts.
I'll have another update soon (sharing an actual play recording of the game in action), and hopefully if we start hitting goals I'll have even more to update people on!
PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: 48 Hours In, Halfway to Funding, Backer Exclusive Preview
Hey fight fans
It's been around 48 hours since the launch of Transgender Deathmatch Legend II. Thanks to all of you we're over halfway to funding the initial print run. The sooner that's reached the more likely it is that we can hit some of the stretch goals and build a fun supplement for everyone to enjoy. You can check out the details on stretch goals to see some of the writer's I'd really love to bring on board.
The conventional wisdom I've been told is to expect a cooling off 48 hours out. Another bit of conventional wisdom is that people are more like to back projects that are already funded. It's hard to predict what that means for this project but the best thing you could do to help is to spread the word. If you are on any social media then sharing the link with a message about why you're excited for this game could be a real difference maker. If you're not on any social media first of all I'm very happy but secondly why not reach out to someone you know personally who you think would love this game and tell them it seems like their things.
I'm gonna keep shouting about this game as much as I can but I'm only one person. This isn't some big production, there's not much money behind this, there's just me; one woman with only so much fuel. I don't have money for advertising and it looks like BackerKit hasn't selected me for their marketing. I don't say this to be dramatic, but just to be honest, word of mouth is one of the only tools I have available for me.
As promised to backers within the first 48 hours I'm going to include exclusively for backers a preview of the essay "Emotional Blading". If the essay "Looking Up at the Lights" is the books mission statement then this is more like an elegy. It looks at the way I approach making art, it brings in blading in wrestling and my stand-up career and ties that into how I approach my practice in TTRPGs now.
Please comment with anything you'd like to see from future updates, I have some ideas but I'd like to be guided about what's gotten all of you excited for this game.
