Voted for an animal. With the art style you have going, I think doing a native Japanese animal like the red-crowned crane could be really nice.

I don't know if this is still relevant in Japanese culture but I am a big fan of the blind samurai or swordsman stories. Not sure if that would make for a good pin but I anted to share the idea. :)

Maybe a tengu (crow demon), or other yokai for a mysterious/magical journey...
