Sir Kadean is a fantasy-themed behavioral engagement system built around side quests, rewards for deeds, worldbuilding, and community participation.
Right now, the project has expanded over the last nearly two years and currently exists across social media, newsletters, downloadable tools, seasonal events, community challenges, and an increasing amount of lore.
The long-term goal is to transform the system into a fully interactive app that helps people engage with daily life in a way that feels more participatory, rewarding, and sustainable than traditional productivity systems.
The app is not designed to equate human value exclusively with output or efficiency. Instead, it treats engagement with life itself as meaningful progression.
This is the first foundational step toward building that app properly (huzzah!).
At its core, Sir Kadean reframes everyday life through the structure of side quests.
The goal is not constant optimization or hustle culture nonsense. Instead it is to make the days of our adventurers feel a little less like an endless maintenance checklist and a little more like something you actively participate in. Quests are never solely focused on productivity, and instead group such deeds in with ones that are relaxing, fun, creative, or just something completely different to do.
Over time, the system evolved into:
daily side quests
weekly and monthly Heralds
narrative challenge arcs
journal prompts
progression systems
collectible rewards
community events
recurring characters and lore
downloadable tools
collaborative worldbuilding with the community.
The realm currently includes:
~145,000 Instagram adventurers
~40,000 TikTok adventurers
thousands of newsletter readers
an interactive website for questing and perusing art of the realm
a very dedicated guild of adventurers who have fully committed to the bit :D
Social media was honestly the perfect starting point for this project because side quests could appear randomly throughout someone’s day the same way they would in a game. But, over time, the limitations became increasingly obvious.
While thousands of travelers now engage with daily quests across social media, the Herald, discord, printable systems, and the website, the actual experience itself remains fragmented across multiple platforms and tools never originally designed for this kind of interactive worldbuilding.
There is currently:
no persistent progression system
no meaningful inventory/reward tracking
no personalization of the experience
no unified place for quests, lore, archives, and progression to coexist together
We currently sit at a point where people are already participating in the “game” without the actual game systems fully existing yet. (aw rats now I lost the game).
The app is intended to solve that.
It allows the system to become:
interactive
persistent
personalized
progression-based
significantly more immersive
It also allows the project to move beyond the limitations of algorithms, disappearing posts, fragmented tools, and systems currently spread across multiple platforms into a more cohesive realm experience.
This campaign is NOT funding a fully completed app.
This is a foundational pre-development campaign focused on building the infrastructure, planning, prototypes, and technical groundwork required to responsibly create the platform.
As someone who works professionally in software product development, I am extremely aware that projects like this can spiral into inaccessible, unstable, exploitative messes very quickly if handled poorly or rushed too early.
I do not want to do that here- so that's why we start with Phase One instead of me throwing out a huge "let's fund the big dream app experience right now" goal.
Phase One— Foundations
The goal of Phase One is to transform the existing concept, systems, and community ecosystem into a technically viable production plan for the app itself.
This phase includes:
UX and interface prototyping
user flow mapping
behavioral system planning
visual demonstrations and mockups
initial technical architecture planning
initial engineering consultation
legal/business structuring
MVP scoping
roadmap development
+Realm Expansion
Alongside app development planning, part of this phase also focuses on expanding the physical and community-facing side of the realm itself. One major goal of this Kickstarter is ensuring progress feels tangible and experiential long before a full app release exists.
Delivery timelines on physical items as noted with each tier :)
This includes things such as:
expanded printable/downloadable materials (the Herald)
mailed quest systems
stickers and realm ephemera
lore archives
collectible systems
The purpose of this phase is not to rush out a half-functional app as quickly as possible (I will not become my ex evil bosses!!). The goal is to build the groundwork correctly so future development is stable, scalable, ethical, and sustainable long term.
At the end of this phase, the project should have:
a defined MVP structure
finalized core systems
prototypes
technical planning documentation
development roadmaps
a significantly clearer path toward full application development :)
If the campaign exceeds its initial funding target, additional funding will allow the realm to move into "Phase Two" work to move further through early development. This would, of course, all be toward a functional MVP release while also expanding physical realm experiences, archives, and materials for travelers.
$15,000— Expanded Concept Development
Additional funding allows for:
expanded professional mockups
additional UI/UX concept exploration
expanded world/interface concepts
increased stationery and printable reward options
Realm Expansion Unlock: Digital lore archives of the realm
$25,000— Interactive Prototype Phase
Additional funding allows for:
clickable prototype development
interactive quest flow testing
early navigation/system demonstrations
foundational user experience testing
expanded technical consultation
beta testing with backers
increased stationery and printable reward options
Realm Expansion Unlock: Herald Press (mailed printed zine versions of the Herald)
$40,000— Technical Foundation Phase
Additional funding allows for:
increased/continued contractor support
expanded engineering capacity
implementation of core data systems (translation: how we track rewards)
stronger technical foundations for future expansion
increased stationery and printable reward options
$55,000— MVP Development Preparation
Additional funding allows for:
increased/continued contractor support
MVP production release planning (appstore approvals, etc.)
accessibility and UX refinement
cloud infrastructure preparation
foundational quest/reward implementation planning
increased development capacity toward MVP production
increased stationery and printable reward options
Realm Expansion Unlock: Sir Kadean Adventurer's Oracle Deck
$75,000— Sir Kadean App MVP (Minimum Viable Product)
Funding at this level would support development of the initial core MVP experience focused on:
MVP launch
increased/continued contractor support
delivery of daily quests within the app
basic quest completion tracking
simple reward accumulation systems
foundational progression structures
initial account/user systems
increased stationery and printable reward options
This release would intentionally remain narrow in scope in order to validate usability, engagement, and long-term expansion potential before layering additional complexity onto the realm.
Thank you for making it to the end! That was a lot of reading, here you go: 💎
