Like any good story, there are multiple drafts of this one, some of which I have thankfully lost. It was originally intended as a satirical work, lampooning romance and thriller novels. It started as a writing project to clear my head while I was editing my first book, The Chaos Child. It wasn't really something I intended to publish, but around the one hundred page mark in the first draft something shifted. I was writing out a rescue mission that involved, among other cheesy, stupid things, poison bullets. It was as stupid as it sounds, but I thought I was writing satire. My one and only reader of this draft read the scene all the way to the end, turned to me immediately afterward and said, "You need to rewrite this." So I did.
To Private Ford Rayburn is an action, pulp, romantic, spy thriller with original cover art by the immensely talented, Adam Schmidt!
Originally intended as one book, the manuscript just got too big and had to be split into two. The sequel Yours, Marnie Rayburn is in the editing phase and will (barring any unforeseen disasters) be coming out next year.
