Project Update: Funded. Thank You.

We did it!

Night Shift: Devil Division is funded! £30,000. It's real, it's happening, and honestly we're a little stunned sitting here writing this. The SRG team stepped out for pizza and when we came back, we'd funded 😂

This game has been a long time in the making and getting it across that line with your support means more than we can adequately put into words in a BackerKit update. So we'll just say: thank you. Genuinely. Every follow, every share, every comment, every person who grabbed a friend and said "look at this", that's what got us here.

Now we want to step into second gear
Every pound beyond £30K unlocks something that makes this game better, bigger, and more complete. We've attached the next stretch goals below. Have a look at what's coming if we keep pushing.

Book ribbons. Spot gloss. Devil minis in the Starter Set. A brand new class added to THE DIVISION. A custom cover for DEVILS. Full Draw Steel Codex VTT support. There's a lot on that list worth getting excited about.

The single best thing you can do right now is share this campaign.

Every new backer does two things: it pushes us toward the next stretch goal, and it grows the community of people who'll be playing, discussing, and playtesting this game. More players means more playtesting. More playtesting means a better game for everyone at the table. We're hoping to build a community that Night Shift: Devil Division will continue to support for years to come.

So share the campaign page. Post it in your Discord. Send it to the one friend who you know would love this. Tell them there are Devils that need Detaining.

We'll be back soon with more updates as we climb.

Project Update: Fuck It. Here's The Cover. Got Any Questions For Us?

We were going to wait until 3,000 followers for this. We're close enough, and honestly, we've been sitting on this piece for a while now and the patience has run out. So. Here we go.

This is, in my opinion, our best cover to date. And I don't say that lightly — we've been genuinely lucky with the art on this project, but this one is something else. Tonton Revolver, our good friend and returning cover artist, absolutely delivered. Look at the detail. Actually look at it. Zoom in. Revel in it. Take your time. We'll wait.

Dave Thaumavore Got A First Look — And Made A Video About It.

Dave put together a first look video for Night Shift: Devil Division and it's a great watch whether you're already sold or still on the fence. Go give it a like, leave a comment, subscribe if you aren't already; all that good stuff. It genuinely helps and Dave put the work in.

Carrying On The Video Theme — We're Filming A Q&A On Thursday.

If you're in the Discord you'll have already seen the question submissions absolutely piling in, which has been brilliant. But we want to hear from you here too — drop your questions in the comments on this update and we may cover them in the video.

Anything is fair game. The game, the lore, the design process, the worldbuilding, the crowdfunding journey, my favourite Blade film. Genuinely anything. We're not precious about it.

While You're Here — There's A Poll Below.

We're asking which VTTs you're interested in so we know what to prioritise. We're having some good conversations at the moment and making real progress on that front, so your answers here will actually feed into decisions we're making right now. Takes ten seconds.

One More Thing — We Launch In Just Under A Week.

10am PST. 5pm GMT. If you haven't reserved your spot yet, please do! It costs next to nothing and it genuinely helps us going into launch day. We'll be back before then with more, but if we don't... we'll see you on launch day.

Project Update: 2,500 Followers. THE VAULT Opens.

We hit 2,500 followers (which is amazing btw!). We said we'd open THE VAULT at 2,500. So here it is.

THE VAULT is the all-in collector's tier. A collector's box containing pretty much everything Night Shift: Devil Division will physically be. Here's what's inside.

Both core books in faux-leather limited edition with custom colour embossing, housed in an exclusive slipcase. DIVISION. DEVILS. The slipcase is BackerKit exclusive.

The Vault Exclusive Lenticular Duty Manager Screen. The DM side carries the full reference panel: Power Roll tiers, Conditions, Damage Types, Engagement actions. Flip it around and the player-facing side shifts between the five Devil faction heads and their faction logos depending on the angle. Look how fucking cool and 90s it is!

VAULT Lenticular DM Screen

The Devil detained in the THE VAULT gets a full Devil Dossier. A physical case file on a Devil exclusive to THE VAULT tier; full stat block, threat assessment, containment notes, and background. Not available separately. Exclusive to BackerKit.
Rounding out the box: the Limited Edition Dice Set, The Operative Starter Set, the 90s Tokyo/Under-Tokyo Double-Sided Poster Map, Chase Scene Cards, and Digital Everything — all PDFs and digital assets.

Keep kegare low for now. We launch in 16 days.

Project Update: The Division.

Last week we put a poll to you: what do you want to know about first? The Division beat Kegare. Narrowly, but enough. You've already met the five Operative types on the campaign page. Now let's talk about who actually runs them.

INCOMING MESSAGE:

FOLLOWER GOAL: 2,500

We're 268 followers away from 2,500. Hit that number and we'll drop a reveal of THE VAULT, our top tier pledge. Share the page, spread the word.
Stay low. Keep ambition low.

// Operative Slightly, out.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

(text version)

Officially, Devil Division is a Special Urban Hazard Countermeasures Company. Chemical spills. Structural instability. Cult violence. Unusual incidents. They publish bland safety brochures. They have a cafeteria.

Unofficially, the Division is a private organisation with government blessing and government leash, built to sit in the gap between public safety and secret war. The government tolerates them because the Division keeps panic low and Tokyo functional. The government also fears them, because the Division holds secrets that would burn ministries and careers. Both sides know it.

The people who do the work are known on the street as "Red Crows." The ones who walk into rain-wet alleys and come back with blood on their cuffs. (Red helps with this)

Headquarters looks like a mid-tier office block from the street. Corporate meeting rooms. A small showroom for "hazard equipment". Visiting clients see that. Staff live in the second skin: stainless steel, sealed concrete, salt-wash drains, air that smells faintly of ozone and antiseptic.

Below that are the Root levels.
The Vault. The lab annexes. The hybrid ward.

Staff develop slang to reduce emotional charge and avoid true-name exposure. A gate is a "hinge". A civilian witness is "grey". A cover story is "paint". A body is "cargo". A detained Devil is an "asset". A pact is "paper". Managed Leakage is "drip". The department that ensures the Division survives regardless of cost is "the grown-ups". People use humour as a means of getting by. When staff stop joking, Internal Security gets nervous.

The Division also runs something called Managed Leakage. Controlled incidents allowed to continue long enough to gather data, reveal networks, and harvest Devils for the Vault.

There's a department called Continuity whose purpose is to ensure the Division survives. The problem is that if gates close permanently, the Division loses mission justification and becomes a liability with decades of crimes attached. Continuity knows this. It acts through a variety of means: delayed research, buried findings, rerouted budgets. It prefers a manageable disease to a cure.

Field teams are aware of all of this. They stay anyway. Money. Status. Fear. Or the stubborn belief that they are holding a thin wall between Tokyo and something worse.

They might even be right...

Project Update: Welcome to the Party, Pal!

Welcome to the Party, Pal!
Here we are. Now that we’ve switched over to a Launch Party, we’ve got some fun new ways to hang out together. We can run polls, set community goals, and maybe even do the odd stream here and there.

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who’s joined us for this. The excitement, the feedback, and the sheer level of hype has been wild. Honestly, it’s been bigger than anything we’ve seen on our previous projects, which is both brilliant and slightly terrifying in the best way.

There’s also been a big influx of new folks in the Discord, and we’ve been getting loads of questions about Night Shift: Devil Division.

So for our first poll, I thought we’d hand it over to you lot. What lore or worldbuilding topic would you most like us to dig into next?

Vote away, and I’ll check back in next week with another update on where we’re at, along with the results of the poll.
